    • A telecommunication module (10) has a circuit board (50) disposed therein with a bounding edge. The module includes a jack (14) coupled to the edge of the circuit board (50) for receiving a plug (22) therein with an active state and an inactive state. A switch (32) is mounted on the circuit board and a switch operation shaft is mechanically and electrically coupled to the switch and extending outward therefrom such that the switch operation shaft is adjacent to the jack. When the plug (22) is inserted into the jack, the switch operation shaft (40) is rotated thereby changing states of the switch. An angled ramp (42) is coupled to the switch operation shaft and spaced apart from the switch. The jack further includes an opening disposed therein for receiving the angled ramp therein. Moreover, when the plug (22) is inserted in the jack (14), the plug contacts the angled ramp (42) wherein the jack causing the switch operation shaft to rotate, thereby changing states of the switch as the angled ramp is biased from within the jack.

    • A coaxial switching jack (12) with a pair of coaxial assemblies (124) mounted within a housing (100) having a pair of front openings (112) . The coaxial assemblies each include a center conductor (125) and a shell conductor (123) . The center conductors are connected by a first spring (130) and the shell conductors are connected by a second spring (116) . Insertion of a coaxial cable connector within one of the front openings deflects the springs from the corresponding coaxial assembly and disconnects the center and shell conductors of the two assemblies. The jack may also be configured to provide an electrical connection between the center and shell conductors of the second coaxial assembly if a coaxial cable connector is inserted within the first coaxial assembly. The connection between the center and shell conductors of the second coaxial assembly may allow for selection of a desired electrical impedance .
