    • An inductive heating device (1) for heating an aerosol-forming substrate (20) comprising a susceptor (21) comprises: a device housing (10), a DC power source (11) for providing a DC supply voltage (VDC) and a DC current (IDC), a power supply electronics (13) comprising a DC/AC converter (132) comprising an LC load network (1323) comprising a series connection of a capacitor (C2) and an inductor (L2) having an ohmic resistance (RCoil), a cavity (14) in the device housing (10) for accommodating a portion of the aerosol-forming substrate (20) to inductively couple the inductor (L2) to the susceptor (21). It is further programmed to monitor changes in the apparent ohmic resistance (Ra) and to detect a puff when a decrease of the apparent ohmic resistance (Ra) is determined which is indicative of a temperature decrease of the susceptor (21) during a user inhalation.

    • A method of producing a heat-recoverable plastic article such as a tube (1) by deforming the article from a heat-stable configuration (1a) to a heat-unstable configuration (1b). The heat-unstable configuration will return to the heat-stable configuration when the article is heated to above the heat recovery temperature. The article is heated such that the article is at a temperature no lower than the heat recovery temperature during the deforming step by lossy particles (2) dispersed in the article or in a tool (4) used in the deforming step. The lossy particles allow auto-regulated heating of the article since the particles cannot be heated beyond their Curie transition temperature when subjected to an alternating magnetic field. These particles are preferably ferrites. Alternatively, the tool can include a braided mesh tubing (12) of a ferromagnetic alloy wire. The article is cooled in the heat-unstable configuration to a temperature below the heat recovery temperature while preventing the article from returning to the heat-stable configuration. The tool can be a mandrel (8), expandable tube (10) or caterpillar (4).
