摘要： A system and method for tracking items during a process employs a rack configured to hold one or more receptacles. Each receptacle includes a machine-readable label providing information regarding the receptacle, and each receptacle-receiving position of the rack has associated therewith a machine-readable label identifying the receptacle receiving location. The rack also includes a memory element to which electronic data may be written. A label reading device reads the machine-readable label on each receptacle and the position-indicating, machine-readable labels on the rack. Information obtained from the machine-readable labels is written to the memory element, so that for subsequent processing of the receptacles carried on the rack, information relating to each of the receptacles can be obtained by reading the information written to the memory element. A tamper prevention element provides an indication of whether the rack may have been tampered with after data is written to the memory element.

摘要： Systems and methods for processing plant material samples and a transfer station designed for use in such systems and methods. In one embodiment, the system includes a controller, a plant-material sampling device, and a transfer station. The plant-material sampling device is configured to communicate with the controller and to read an identifier of a plant. The sampling device also has a removable magazine, and is designed to take at least one plant sample from multiple plants, place such samples in the magazine, and track the identity of the plant from which each sample is taken. The transfer station is configured to hold, at multiple positions, multiple magazines and multiple trays such that the positions of the magazines are mirrored by the positions of the trays, read an identifier of each magazine, read an identifier of each tray, map storage locations for each one of the magazines to storage locations of one of the trays, and sequentially unload plant samples from the magazines to the trays.

摘要： A pathology distribution system (10) is provided for automated sample containers (14, 15) distribution. The system (10) comprises a loading station (500) for loading samples in primary containers (14) of different types, a sample handling station (16) for receiving the containers (14) and identifying the container types and samples therein, and a container distribution station (38) for distributing the containers in areas or racks in the distribution station (38) marked for analysing processes prescribed for the samples therein. The handling station (16) includes an image analyser (22) for imaging the shape and colour of the cap (34) on a container (14) and/or other characteristic parts of the container (14) for identifying the type of the container (14), and the sample in the container (14) for determining the level and the volume of the sample available for aspiration if required. Pipette tips (28) for the aspiration process are delivered automatically from a pipette hopper (24). Dispensed or defective tips (28) are automatically ejected. A rack evacuation area is provided in the dispensing line and at a position adjacent to the upstream side of the sampling area. When the specimen rack exists in the sampling area at the time of measuring an emergency specimen, a controller moves the specimen rack to the evacuation area and positions the emergency specimen rack from the downstream side of the sampling area to the sampling area.
