    • A method for curing a photosensitive coating (2) on a moving substrate (3) by exposing the coating to a beam of light emitted from a high intensity light source (50). The substrate is substantially shielded from direct rays of light from such light source (50) and the beam of light is reflected and focused in a path, initially generally parallel to and spaced from the substrate (3), filtered and caused to strike a reflective surface (103) that subsequently reflects and redirects the beam of light to impinge in a band upon the photosensitive coating (2) to cure it as it passes on the moving substrate. Apparatus for curing a photosensitive coating (2) on a moving substrate (3) comprising a high intensity light source (50), which is substantially shielded to prevent its direct rays from striking the photosensitive coating (2); a first reflector (40; 41, 42), which partially surrounds the light source (50) to focuse a portion of the light therefrom in a beam generally parallel to the moving substrate (3); a transparent coolant-filter (70), which is located on the opposite side of the light source (50) from the first reflector (40), for filtering the light beam from the light source; a second reflector (100), which is on the opposite side of the filter (70) from the light source (50), to receive the focused and filtered light beam and redirect it at an angle to impinge in a band on the photosensitive coating (2) to cure it as it passes beneath the apparatus (1) on the moving substrate (2).

    • Die Vorrichtung besteht aus einer UV-Strahlenquelle und einem Reflektor. Der Reflektor besteht vorzugsweise aus zwei parabolischen oder elliptischen Halbschalen. Auf der Reflektorfläche sind eine oder mehrere Beschichtungen zur Reflexion der UV-Strahiung und eine darunter liegende Beschichtung zur Absorption des längerwelligen Teils des Spektrums der UV-Strahlenquelle angeordnet. Zwischen diesen Beschichtungen ist eine Diffusionssperrschicht angeordnet. Die Reflexionsschicht besteht aus abwechselnd niedrigbrechenden dielektrischen Schichten aus Si0 2 und hochbrechenden Schichten aus HfO 2 , die Diffusionssperrschicht aus einer dielektrischen Schicht mit einer physikalischen Dicke von mindestens 0,5 µ aus Si0 2 und die Absorptionsschicht aus einer schwarzen Eloxierung, Schwarzverchromung oder - vernickelung, Anodisierung oder Brünierung einer polierten Kupfer- oder Nickelbeschichtung des aus Aluminiumlegierung bestehenden Reflektorkörpers.

    • Disclosed is a dryer device (14, 16, 36) for a printing press that prints in at least one printing position (06, 06', 06'') on a printing substrate (02) by means of at least one printing unit (03), in particular a printing press for securities, comprising a dryer with a drying means (38) formed by an array of a plurality of adjacent radiation sources (38K), said array extending at least over the maximum width of the printing substrate and being used to supply radiation to the printing substrate in each activated state for drying the latter, and comprising a control device (37) which allows the radiation sources or some of the radiation sources to be switched on or off in a repeating cycle that comprises a sequence with at least one active and at least one inactive phase (P), in correlation with a press- and/or printing-substrate phase position. The dryer device comprising the dryer and the control device is designed and configured to switch on and switch off, for each cycle, only some of the radiation sources in some sections in at least four predefinable radiation-source groups, spaced approximately equidistantly, i.e at a distance deviating by a maximum 20% from the average distance and transversely to the transport direction, concurrently and/or collectively according to a sequence comprising multiple and/or at least three equidistant active phases of the same first phase length. The invention also relates to a printing press, in particular a printing press for securities, comprising a dryer device of this type, wherein during operation the printing substrate is supplied with radiation, in multiple tracks spaced apart transversely to the transport direction, synchronously with the printing substrate feed and/or with the press phase.
