    • A process for producing a vinyl chloride polymer comprising the steps of charging a vinyl chloride monomer or a vinylic monomer mixture containing a vinyl chloride monomer, an oil-soluble polymerization initiator, a dispersion stabilizer and water into a polymerization vessel, and suspension-polymerizing said monomer in an aqueous medium, wherein said water is charged into the polymerization vessel in a state of pH 2.5-5.0. According to this production process, a vinyl chloride polymer having good particle size distribution, initial coloration, heat stability, demonomering property (removal of monomer) and the like is obtained in a broad range of an oxygen amount without being affected by the oxygen amount in the polymerization vessel. Further, the polymer obtained by the production process presents a formed article having fewer fish eyes when it is formed. In addition, because an adhesion amount of polymer scales to an inner wall of the polymerization vessel is extremely less, productivity is good.

    • There is described a polymerization apparatus for the polymerization of a polymerizable monomer, which is equipped with a circulation path for the flow of a reaction mixture that comprises a polymerization vessel (1), a heat exchanger (2) arranged outside said polymerization vessel (1), and a pipeline (3) that is extended from said polymerization vessel (1), is returned to said polymerization vessel (1) through said heat exchanger (2), and is provided with a strainer (5) in the course thereof. Said apparatus is characterized by the surface of a filter being provided in said strainer (5) and having located upstream rodlike projections, and a method of polymerizing a monomer to a polymer by using said apparatus. With this apparatus scale and polymers in the form of blocks can be prevented from being mixed into the reaction mixture. Therefore, if the polymerization is repeated, clogging of the tubes of the heat exchanger and dropping of the flow velocity of the reaction mixture as well as fish eyes on sheets made from said polymer can be prevented.

    • An improvement is proposed in the process of suspension polymerizatiopn of vinyl chloride monomer in an aqueous polymerization medium, by which a resin product of high quality relative to the contents of foamy resin and fish-eyes can be produced in a high efficiency with little deposition of polymer scale on the reactor walls. The improvment comprises heating and keeping the surfaces of the polymerization reactor and accessory equipment coming into contact with the gaseous phase above the polymerization mixture at a temperature of 55 °C or higher during a period starting from a moment when the temperature of the polymerization mixture under temperature elevation up to the polymerization temperature is still 45 °C or lower to a moment when conversion of the monomer into polymer is at least 10% so that foaming on the polymerization mixture can be greatly reduced.
