摘要： A method of repairing a turbine blade (11) of the type forming part of an array of turbine blades (10) which are provided with tennons (15) at their outer ends, which tennons engage with a circumferential shroud (23). The repair steps involve the removal of the old damaged tennon and end of the blade, which may or may not be damaged, and replacement by a new part (27) which includes a new tennon (28) and a blade part (29) and locating the new part relative to at least one adjacent blade (12) and securing the new tennon and blade part to the blade being repaired while it is in its located position. The repair ensures that any area of weakness, i.e. where the joint has been made, is removed from the area most prone to damage, the root of the tennon, and the location means (35) ensures that the new part can be properly located.

The method involves the step of predistorting the blade prior to the welding or brazing operation so that the distortion that is expected to occur during welding or brazing leaves the blade after repair in its proper position. A clamp means (17) may be provided to prevent parts of an individual blade from being predistorted so as to localise the predistortion in the required area. A tool (113) for predistorting the blade ensures that a physical force may be applied to a local area of the blade.

(a) removing the lacing wire (15) and any damaged material from the blade (10) around the lacing wire hole (13); (b) inserting a piece of new material (21) in said lacing wire hole; (c) securing said piece of material (21) in place by fused metal (27, 28); (d) subjecting at least that part of the blade to which repair has been effected to a heat treatment process to relieve residual stress; (e) machining the repaired part of the blade (10) to return the blade to its original form (f) reforming the lacing wire hole (13). Such a method of repair reduces the occurence of residual stress in the turbine blade due to repair and reduces the risk of premature damage to the repaired area.
