    • A racking mechanism (10) for a drawout circuit breaker (74) comprising:
      a cross shaft (42) movably disposed in an enclosure (12);
      at least one input link (54) in operable communication with the cross shaft at one end of the at least one input link and at least one transfer link (58) at another end of the at least one input link;
      at least one racking cam (62) rotably disposed in the enclosure and in operable communication with the transfer link, each racking cam having at least one cam slot (66) receptive of a portion of the circuit breaker (74), movement of the cross shaft about an axis (50) of the cross shaft capable of moving the at least one racking cam from an open position toward a closed position with the portion of the circuit breaker disposed in the at least one cam slot, thereby securing the circuit breaker in the enclosure when the circuit breaker is racked into the enclosure and the at least one racking cam is in the closed position.

    • Disclosed is a circuit breaker with a locking mechanism, which ensures that circuit breaker is switched OFF before applying any trip free locks. Exemplary embodiments include a circuit breaker apparatus, including a lay shaft (110) coupled to circuit breaker contacts, a lay shaft cam (151) coupled to the lay shaft, a lifting plate (152) configured to interface the lay shaft cam and a padlock plate (153) configured to engage the lifting plate. Further exemplary embodiments include a circuit breaker system, the system including a circuit breaker having circuit breaker contacts and configured in an OFF condition, a padlock plate disposed on the circuit breaker, wherein the engagement of the padlock locks the circuit breaker into a trip free condition and a locking mechanism configured to lock the circuit breaker in the OFF condition in response to the engagement of the padlock plate.

    • A spring discharge mechanism for a circuit breaker is provided. The mechanism includes two linkages for crashing or discharging the circuit breaker compression springs to allow the circuit breaker to be used in either fixed breaker installation or in an installation having a drawout mechanism. The secondary mechanism includes a manual activation linkage that couples with an interface plate. The interface plate is coupled to an opening latch shaft and a closing latch shaft that cooperates to discharge the circuit breaker compression springs. An interface lever is also coupled to the interface plate. The interface lever includes a roller that interacts with a pivoting cam lever coupled to a drawout mechanism. The cam lever interacts with the roller causing the interface lever to rotate the interface plate, the opening latch shaft and the closing latch shaft.
