    • The invention relates to a method and a system (200) for communicating wirelessly between devices. Wireless communication can be a very appropriate way of interconnecting nearby devices, such as devices located within a home. However, equipping all devices with a wireless transceiver may not be desirable. Furthermore, an ordinary user should be able to connect devices in a straightforward and convenient way. The invention addresses these issues by means of a wireless communication key (250, 260, 270). This is a key-like object equipped with a transceiver. A key can be attached to a device (220, 230, 240) for which a wireless connection is required. A key may have to be powered by the device to which it gets attached and can then establish a wireless connection (280, 282) with another device. The other device is determined by the key used. A key may be associated with a fixed endpoint device (210), permanently equipped with a transceiver (212). Alternatively, a key may be associated with a second key that is to be attached to the other device.

    • A system for white balancing images using facial color as a reference signal is provided that includes a face detector, a skin tone extractor, a plurality of reference skin tones, a skin tone comparator, and a balance parameter generator. The face detector is operable to receive a digital image and to detect a human face within the digital image. The skin tone extractor is coupled to the face detector. The skin tone extractor is operable to extract a skin tone from the digital image. The extracted skin tone is associated with a human face detected by the face detector. The skin tone comparator is coupled to the skin tone extractor. The skin tone comparator is operable to access the reference skin tones and to compare the extracted skin tone to the reference skin tones in order to identify a reference skin tone corresponding to the extracted skin tone. The balance parameter generator is coupled to the skin tone comparator. The balance parameter generator is operable to generate a balance parameter based on the extracted skin tone and the corresponding reference skin tone. The balance parameter is operable to be applied to the digital image to white balance the digital image.

    • This invention relates to a method of managing a media system (103, 201, 208) with a group identifier in a network (210) of media systems. The invention further relates to a media system for managing a network of media systems with a group identifier. The media system can be may be a set-top box, a TV, a PC, a DVD player, a radio, a screen, a camera or a VCR. Said method includes the steps of determining a status of the network, wherein the status represents the group identifier, presence and / or absence of at least one media system; and determining the group identifier for at least one media system based on the determined status. Said step of determining the group identifier comprises the alternative four steps of resetting the group identifier, when said media system is disconnected from the network; or giving an existing group identifier to a first media system (201), when said media system without a group identifier is connected to a second media system (202) having said existing group identifier; or keeping separate group identifiers to a third (203) and a fourth media system (204), when the third and the fourth media system are connected to the network; or giving a first group identifier specified by a user, when a fifth media system (205) is connected to the network to one or more media systems where none of these has a group identifier, and assigning the first group identifier to all of said media systems. Said method further includes the step of: giving a second group identifier specified by a user to a sixth media system (206). Hereby, it is made easy for a user to add, move and remove media systems without the user interaction, since the media systems themselves determine the group identifiers.
