    • A disk apparatus is disclosed. A movable chassis assembly having a turntable and a pickup head is detachably supported on elastic members by a stationary chassis assembly with the lock mechanism of the stationary chassis assembly engaged with lock pins disposed on the movable chassis. A holder located on the movable chassis assembly for holding a disk cartridge to load or eject the disk cartridge is transported by a loader located on the stationary chassis assembly in a predetermined transport direction. Pin driving means located in the loader disengages lock pins when the lock mechanism is touched by the pin driving means at the end of the loading operation of the disk cartridge. A pair of pivoting cross links are connected at their crossings by a support pin that is engaged with a first guide slot in the stationary chassis assembly. One end of each of the pair of cross links is slidably engaged with a guide slot in the loader. The other end of each of the pair of cross links is slidably engaged with a guide slot in the stationary chassis. This arrangement eliminates variations in the load during loading and ejecting operations. A stable operation of the disk apparatus is thus assured. The disk apparatus prevents a double insertion of cartridges and an incorrect insertion, freeing the cartridge and disk apparatus from physical damage.

    • A disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus comprises external magnetic field generating means (12) for applying an external magnetic field to a given area of a rotating disk (101) on which informational signals are recorded; means (41) for moving the external magnetic field generating means (12) toward and away from the disk (101) in response to the commencing operation of recording of the informational signals on the disk (101); and means (17) for loading the disk on such a position where the informational signal can be recorded. The moving means (41) is adapted to move said external magnetic field generating means (12) toward the disk (101) only when loading operation of the disk (101) by the loading means (17) is completed. Accordingly, contact of the magnetic head (12) with the disk (101) while the disk (101) is not rotated is prevented.

    • A flexible magnetic disk, rotatably housed in an apertured envelope to make up a disk cartridge, is loaded through an entrance slot in the housing of the apparatus to a preassigned position for data transfer with a pair of transducer heads on its opposite sides. Upon subsequent manipulation of a clamp knob, one of the transducer heads is sprung into forced contact with the other transducer heads via the magnetic disk therebetween. In order to avoid the direct contact of the two transducer heads as a result of the user's tampering with the clamp knob when the disk cartridge is not loaded in the apparatus, a head control mechanism is provided for holding the transducer heads away from each other when the disk cartridge is not loaded, even if the clamp assembly is then actuated inadvertently. The head control mechanism allows the one transducer head to travel toward the other for the establishment of data transfer contact with the magnetic disk only when the clamp knob is actuated following the insertion of the disk cartridge in the entrance slot.
