The cathode 24 may be a gas electrode with a porous cathode and second volume 2. The anode 28 may be a gas electrode comprising a porous anode and third volume 3. The steam inlet 5 may have a diffuser 22.The arrangement may have a power supply 7 and an enclosure 6 to trap the gaseous product.

摘要： A system for generating a chlorine-containing mixture comprises an anodic chamber comprising an anodic electrode and having an inlet for a first solution and an outlet for an anolyte solution. A cathodic chamber is spaced from and adjacent the anodic chamber in the system. The cathodic chamber comprises a cathodic electrode and has an inlet for a second solution and an outlet for a catholyte solution. The second solution may be the same as or different from the first solution, and at least one of the first and second solutions comprises a chlorinated solution. A membrane is disposed between and separates the anodic chamber and the cathodic chamber. The system further comprises a dilution chamber having an inlet for an aqueous solution and an outlet. Finally, the system comprises a mixing chamber, which has an outlet for the chlorine-containing mixture. The outlet of the dilution chamber is in fluid communication with the mixing chamber. Chlorine gas is generated in the anodic chamber along with the anolyte solution and at least the chlorine gas is combined with the aqueous solution in the mixing chamber. The system allows for a free available chlorine (FAC) value of the chlorine-containing mixture to be selectively controlled.

摘要： According to the invention, a method and equipment are provided for the electrochemical conversion of fatty acids, preferably consisting of renewable raw materials or biomass, by means of Kolbe electrolysis and/or Hofer-Moest electrolysis. The method can be achieved by means of an aqueous electrolyte without an organic solvent and uses an electrochemical reactor containing at least one anode and at least one cathode, each of which having a planar upper surface and which are arranged at a distance from one another of ≤ 200 μm (e.g. as described in EP 1 114 203 B1). In the case that a plurality of cathodes and anodes or a plurality of thin-film cells are used, these can be electrically contacted in parallel. The electrolysis is operated at a current intensity which, in operation, produces a cell voltage in the individual cells of 3 to 30 V. In this way, overall higher current densities can be achieved at the same time as reduced heat generation, which increases the product yield per electrode surface. A further advantage is that, by means of the arrangement of the electrodes, a homogeneous distribution of current density is achieved, thus achieving an improved product selectivity and product yield.
