摘要： A color video signal conversion apparatus includes a color decoder (52) by which a phase of an NTSC chrominance signal is decoded as a first color code on the basis of a first clock of 21 MHz. The first color code is further converted into a second color code representing a phase of a PAL chrominance signal by a code converter (54). A PAL chrominance signal is encoded by a PAL encoder (56) on the basis of the second color code and a second clock of 26 MHz. The PAL chrominance signal is synthesized with an original luminance signal, and a PAL composite synchronization signal is added thereto, whereby a PAL composite color video signal is obtained.

摘要： Video luminance data from a video signal is selectably compressed and expanded in a first signal path including a first line memory (356). A second line memory (358) in a parallel signal path processes video chrominance data from the video signal. A control circuit (320) generates respective timing signals for writing data into the line memories and for reading data from the line memories. A timing delay circuit (337) for the control means, has video compression and expansion modes of operation. During the compression mode, reading of the second line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory. During said expansion mode, writing of the first line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory or reading of the second line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory. The duration of the timing delays can be selected from a range of values. The line memories are first in first out (FIFO) devices having independently enabled write and read ports.

摘要： A widescreen television picture is sampled at a higher sampling rate so as to fit all of the information in the current 52.5 us active video line time. A selection signal is also incorporated with the widescreen picture signal, allowing non-widescreen television receivers to display a contiguous portion of the widescreen picture without geometric distortion. The widescreen television signal is transmitted either in MAC or widescreen NTSC format, and is received by a decoder. The decoder allows the entire widescreen picture to be displayed on a widescreen receiver, and makes use of the selection signal to display the selected portion of the picture on a standard receiver without geometric distortion. In anoter embodiment, a decoder allows television signals having the standard aspect ratio to be displayed on receivers having widescreen aspect ratios without geometric distortion.

摘要： The subject matter discloses a method and apparatus for re-sampling a sequence of images in order to improve its resolution, fill-in missing pixels, or de-interlace it. The method operates locally in the images to be processed, comparing pixel values of pixels surrounding the target pixel to pixel values of substantially the same locations in neighboring images. The comparison results in assigning a weight value for each area compared with the area containing the reviewed pixel. The pixel value of the reviewed pixel is updated as a function of multiplying pixel values of the areas by the weight assigned to each area. In another embodiment, areas within the same image are compared to areas containing the reviewed pixel. The subject matter also discloses two possible penalty functions for improving the resolution of images.
