摘要： It relates to high purity single-walled carbon nanotubes having controlled diameter, useful as industrial materials, including high-strength carbon wire rods, particularly uniform single-walled carbon nanotubes having diameter fallen in a range of from 1.0 to 2.0 nm, and a method for producing the same efficiently, in large amount and inexpensively. The single-walled carbon nanotube obtained is characterized in that its diameter is fallen in a range of from 1.0 to 2.0 nm, and an intensity ratio IG/ID between G-band and D-band in a Raman spectrum is 200 or more. Furthermore, those single-walled carbon nanotubes are synthesized by a gas-phase flow CVD method that uses a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon which is liquid at ordinary temperature as a first carbon source and an unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon which is gas at ordinary temperature as a second carbon source.

The metal catalysts are preferably nanoparticles having diameters less than about 50nm. The reaction temperature is selected such that it is near the eutectic point of the mixture of metal catalyst particles and carbon.

摘要： Methods for growing carbon nanotubes on glass substrates, particularly glass fiber substrates, are described herein. The methods can include depositing a catalytic material or a catalyst precursor on a glass substrate; depositing a non-catalytic material on the glass substrate prior to, after, or concurrently with the catalytic material or catalyst precursor; and exposing the glass substrate to carbon nanotube growth conditions so as to grow carbon nanotubes thereon. The glass substrate, particularly a glass fiber substrate, can be transported while the carbon nanotubes are being grown thereon. Catalyst precursors can be converted into a catalyst when exposed to carbon nanotube growth conditions. The catalytic material or catalyst precursor and the non-catalytic material can be deposited from a solution containing water as a solvent. Illustrative deposition techniques include, for example, spray coating and dip coating.

摘要： There are provided a cluster of thin sheet graphite crystals or the like which is useful as an electrode material for lithium ion batteries, hybrid capacitors and the like, and a method for efficiently producing the same at high productivity. The method is one for producing a cluster of thin sheet graphite crystals composed of aggregates in such a state that thin sheet graphite crystals extend from the inside toward the outside, comprising charging a powdery and/or particulate material of an organic compound pre-baked to an extent of containing remaining hydrogen in a graphite vessel, and subjecting the powdery and/or particulate material together with the vessel to hot isostatic pressing treatment (HIP treatment) using a compressed gas atmosphere under the predetermined conditions.
