摘要： A method and apparatus for inkjet printing by means of a plurality of inkjet nozzles arranged in at least one row and having spaced, parallel nozzle axes for emitting liquid ink drops towards the substrate, and multi-level charging anddeflecting plates controlled to deflect individual drops to selected locations on the substrate with respect to the respective nozzle axis according to the pattern to be printed. The multi-level charging and deflecting plates are controlled to cover, for each nozzle, a line section which includes two non-contiguous deposit zones to receive ink drops from the respective nozzle, separated by a non-deposit zone not to receive ink drops from the respective nozzle. Various arrangements are described, wherein the nozzles are arranged in a single row or two staggered rows; the printing is effected in a single pass or two passes; the nozzle line sections are overlapping, contiguous orspaced from each other; and the deposit zone of one nozzle overlaps at least a part of the deposit zone of another nozzle.

摘要： A thermal transfer media printer (48) is disclosed. In one embodiment, the printer (48) selectively programs RFID transponders (52), and then embeds them into conventional on-demand printed media (26) between the adhesive layer and the release liner. Selective configuration of each printed media sample (26) by addition of value-adding elements (50) may be performed independently for each media sample (26), under software control during processing of each media sample format print control program. An add-on mechanism is disclosed that can be operatively attached to a conventional media printer. This allows value-adding elements (50) such as RFID transponder labels to be selectively applied at precise location son the printed surface of on-demand printed media in connection with existing printers.

摘要： A speed typing method and apparatus having multiple letters (Fig. 1) associated with each key (52) of a keyboard (50). By utilizing multiple characters on each key (52), the number of keys (52) would be fewer than the number of letters in the alphabet using this system (100) (e.g., fewer than 26 letter keys for the English alphabet). Each key (52) on the keyboard (52) is associated with a numerical code. The system (100) uses the numerical code associated with a typed word to access a dictionary or table of words stored in memory (12) at a memory location corresponding to the input numerical code. The system may display all of the words available to the user in response to the input code. The user then selects one of the available words to be placed in the document. Alternatively the system (100) may enable display of one or more preferred words. The keys (52) of the keyboard (50) may be contoured so that the user senses the position of his hand in relation to the keys of the keyboard. The typing system (100) is also implemented by a finger-mounted input device having switches. The finger-mounted device may also be used in conjunction with one or more input selection panels. The panels have keys which are selectable by the user in conjunction with the switches.
