    • The invention is directed to a method for explosive cutting, more in particular to a method for explosive cutting using converging Shockwaves, and to an explosive cutting device. The explosive cutting method of the invention comprises the steps of providing a projectile (2) with an explosive charge (1) for accelerating said projectile (2) in the direction of an object (4) to be cut; positioning said projectile (2) over the object (4) to be cut such that it extends along an intended line of cut, whereby the projectile (2) is spaced from the object (4) to be cut; detonating the explosive charge (1) so that the projectile (2) is accelerated in the direction of the object (4) to be cut, wherein i) the projectile (2) impacts on the object (4) to be cut and the projectile (2) comprises a wave-shaping element (2a, 2b) which is shaped such that the impact generates converging Shockwaves in the underlying object (4) to be cut causing a crack to be propagated through the object (4) substantially along the intended line of cut; or ii) the projectile (2) impacts on a wave-shaping element (3) in contact with the object (4) to be cut, the wave- shaping element (3) being shaped such that the impact generates converging Shockwaves in the underlying object (4) to be cut causing a crack to be propagated through the object (4) substantially along the intended line of cut.

    • A projectile (610) for firing out of a firearm weapon comprises a substantially cylindrical projectile body (612) with first and second axially opposite ends (614, 616) and a cavity (618) defined between the first end (614) and the second end (616), for holding a quantity of propellant (622). The cylindrical body (612) has a first outer diameter, the first end being closed and the second end being open. The projectile further comprises at least two seals (630) extending about an outer circumferential surface (632) of the body (612). Each seal (630) protrudes radially from the body (612) to form a substantial seal against an inner circumferential surface of a barrel of a firearm weapon when the projectile is fired. Each seal (630) has a second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter and equal to or greater than the inner diameter of the barrel. The projectile (610) has a case (668) in which the projectile is received. The case (668) comprises a tube (670) sealed at one end by a base (626)and open at an opposite end. The case (668) is fitted over a portion of the cylindrical body (612) with the base (626) adjacent the second end (616) of the cylindrical body (612) and closes the cavity (618) wherein said quantity of propellant (622) is retained within the cavity (618) by the base (626), and wherein the first end (614) of the cylindrical body protrudes from the open end of the case (668).
