    • An aspirator system (100; 200; 804) for inflating an inflatable evacuation device (142; 806) includes an aspirator body (118; 218) having a plurality of flapper doors (106A - 106B; 206A - 206B) configured to open to allow intake of atmospheric gas. The aspirator system (100; 200; 804) also includes an aspirator barrel (102; 202) connecting the aspirator body (118; 218) to the inflatable evacuation device (142; 806), having connected inflation chambers (120; 220) wrapping around a circumference of the aspirator barrel (102; 202) and arranged along a length of the aspirator barrel, and being configured to provide an aspirator barrel chamber (112; 212) for guiding the atmospheric gas to the inflatable evacuation device (142; 806) when the aspirator barrel (102; 202) is inflated. The aspirator system (100; 200; 804) also includes a showerhead nozzle (104; 204) connected to the connected inflation chambers (120; 220), configured to direct high-pressure gas to inflate the aspirator barrel (102; 202) and compel intake of atmospheric gas through the plurality of flapper doors (106A - 106B; 206A - 206B), to inflate the inflatable evacuation device (142; 806).

    • An aspirator for inflating an aircraft evacuation slide, emergency raft or other inflatable device includes a flexible, collapsible aspirator barrel that is inflated during operation to form a substantially rigid tube. According to one embodiment, the inflatable support member receives a flow of high pressure air directly from the aspirator injector nozzle assembly. According to another embodiment, the collapsible aspirator barrel receives a flow of high pressure gas directly from the high pressure inflation source. Because the aspirator barrel of the present invention is collapsible, the present invention occupies significantly less space when stored than an equivalent aspirator with a rigid aspirator barrel.

    • Venturi devices and systems incorporating the Venturi devices are disclosed. The Venturi devices have a body defining a passageway that has a motive section and a discharge section spaced a distance apart from one another to define a Venturi gap. Both the motive section and the discharge section converge toward the Venturi gap. Also, the body defines a first suction port and a second suction port generally opposite one another that are each in fluid communication with the Venturi gap. The Venturi gap is generally wider proximate both the first suction port and the second suction port than at a generally central point therebetween. In a system, the Venturi device has its motive section fluidly connected to a source of motive pressure and one or both of the first and second suction ports in fluid communication with a device requiring vacuum.
