The method involves providing a first web having grooves running lateral to the direction of travel of the first web, each groove shaped to receive a single elongate element, and providing a second web over the grooves of the first web resulting in a series of individual pockets. In one embodiment, elongate elements are located in the grooves of the first web before the second web is fed over the grooves containing the elongate elements. In an alternative embodiment, the elongate elements are positioned in the individual pockets after they have been formed.

摘要： A child and bite resistant package (10) having a tray (12) and a plurality of spaced apart cavities (14) that are formed therein is provided. A sheet material (20) overlies the tray such that a product disposed in a cavity is enclosed and sealed therein. The sheet material includes a plurality of zones of weakening (26) that are each disposed above a corresponding cavity (14). Each of the zones of weakening is formed by a plurality of microperforations that are formed in the sheet material. The plurality of microperforations, and hence, each zone of weakening covers from about 5 to 90% of the surface area of the sheet material that overlies each of the individual compartments. To access a product, the product is pushed against the lidding (20) in the zone of weakness (26) with sufficient force to rupture the lidding. Since the majority of the surface area above each compartment is non-rupturable, the compartments are difficult to access by a child by either hand manipulation or biting.

摘要： The dual chamber - child-resistant blister package (22) is provided. The blisters of the package include a storage chamber (34) and a discharge chamber (36). In addition, the blister includes restraint means (38) for preventing the medicament (24) from moving from the storage chamber (34) to the discharge chamber (36) until a predetermined force is applied to the blister package (22). The medicament (24) may not be dispensed directly from the storage chamber (34), since a nonrupturable layer (30) is located adjacent the storage chamber (34) of the blister (22). The nonrupturable layer (30) includes an opening (44), or a mechanism such as a score line for forming and opening through which the medicament (24) can pass adjacent the discharge chamber (36). A rupturable layer (32) is also provided to seal the medicament (24) within the blister (22). Typically, the rupturable layer (32) is located adjacent the nonrupturable layer (30) to seal the opening in the nonrupturable layer (30). The blister package (22) may also include indicia associated with the blisters to help insure compliance with complex therapeutic regimens. The blister package may also include fold lines to help reduce the overall size of the blister package; thereby making it easier to transport.
