    • The invention relates to a method for locating objects enclosed in a medium, according to which a detection signal is produced by means of at least one capacitive sensor device, said detection signal penetrating the medium to be analysed in such a way that information about objects enclosed in the medium can be obtained by evaluating the detection signal, especially by means of an impedance measurement. According to the invention, an algorithm for evaluating the detection signal is used to obtain information about the depth of the object enclosed in the medium, said algorithm calculating a compensation of drift effects of the capacitive sensor device producing the detection signal. The invention also relates to a measuring appliance for carrying out the inventive method.
