The machine may be configured to define a station library within a larger collection of media files. In particular, the machine may access meta data that describes the media files included in the collection and access a seed that forms the basis on which the station library is to be defined. The machine may generate a list of media files from the meta data and based on the seed and enable a human editor to modify the machine-generated station set according to a human-contributed input to the station list. 摘要： Fingerprints are bit strings extracted from a media signal (e.g. an audio or video clip) to identify said media signal. Typically, they are derived from a perceptual property of the signal, for example, the spectral energy distribution of an audio fragment or the luminance distribution of a video image. A method and arrangement for extracting a fingerprint is here disclosed which is robust with respect to shifts of the perceptual property. Such shifts occur, inter alia, when the fingerprint is derived from a logarithmically mapped spectral energy distribution of an audio signal and said audio signal is subjected to speed changes. According to the invention, the fingerprint is not derived from the perceptual property as such, but from its auto-correlation function.

摘要： Broadcast music, or other audio that a user wants to hear, is recorded based on criteria obtained from a user. Any of a plurality of techniques may be used to identify the audio, alone or in combination with other identification techniques, including length of song, fingerprint recognition of digital or analog audio, scheduled programming, or metadata transmitted in the same or an adjacent channel or frequency. The criteria used to determine whether to save a recording may be based on attributes included in the identification database, such as artist, genre, popularity, station programming, year, signal quality, etc. The audio selected by a user for listening may be recorded, or a programmable tuner or other input selector may automatically record desired music regardless of whether the music is being output for listening. The audio recorded may be obtained from any source, including analog and digital radio, Internet radio streams and removable pre-recorded media.

Associated information includes the filename, if the recording is a computer file in, e.g., MP3 format, or table of contents (TOC) data, if the recording is on a removable medium, such as a compact disc. At least one and preferably several algorithmically determined fingerprints are extracted from the recording using one or more fingerprint extraction methods. The information extracted is compared with corresponding information in a database maintained for reference recordings. Identification starts with the most accurate and efficient method available, e.g., using a hash ID, a unique ID or text. Fingerprint matching is used to confirm other matches and validation is performed by comparing the duration of the unknown and a possibly matching reference recording.

摘要： Copies of original sound recordings are identified by extracting features from the copy, creating a vector of those features, and comparing that vector against a database of vectors. Identification can be performed for copies of sound recordings that have been subjected to compression and other manipulation such that they are not exact replicas of the original. Computational efficiency permits many hundreds of queries to be serviced at the same time. The vectors may be less than 100 bytes, so that many millions of vectors can be stored on a portable device.
