摘要： A crude ethanol product obtained from the hydrogenation of acetic acid comprises ethanol and ethyl acetate. Using a distillation column operated at a pressure of from 0.1 to 100 kPa, the ethyl acetate and ethanol may be effectively separated. In addition, maintaining the amount of water that is fed to the distillation column to an amount less than 10 wt.%, based on the weight of all components fed to the distillation column, provides an energy benefit.

摘要： The invention relates to a process for producing an ammonium salt composition. The process comprises the steps of providing a process stream comprising sulfuric acid, methylene dichloride, and a tertiary amine or a precursor thereof and contacting the process stream with ammonia under conditions effective to form a product stream and a waste stream. The product stream comprises the ammonium salt and the waste stream comprises water, methylene dichloride, ammonia, and the tertiary amine. The process further comprises the step of deriving from the waste stream an off gas stream comprising ammonia and a first amount of methylene dichloride. The process also comprises the step of contacting at least a portion of the off gas stream or a derivative thereof with an adsorbent under conditions effective to separate at least a portion of the off gas into a methylene dichloride stream comprising methylene dichloride.

摘要： Disclosed herein are nonwoven fibrous structures for use as body fluid acquisition/distribution elements in personal care products. Such structures comprise natural and/or synthetic fibers wherein the fibers have been consolidated by application thereto, and by cross-linking of, a certain type of cross-linkable, vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) emulsion copolymer latex binder. The VAE latex binder is one which also comprises an added organic acidulant such as citric acid. Consolidation of the structures with VAE-based binders to which the organic acidulant has been added imparts to the resulting structures the ability to lower the pH of body fluids such as urine passing through the structures. This effect, in turn, provides odor control and skin care benefits to the absorbent articles, e.g., diapers and adult incontinence products, using such structures as acquisition/distribution elements.
