摘要： A bias element (10) for use in a magnetomechanical EAS marker is magnetized to saturation (14). Then the magnetic charge in the bias element is redistributed (16) by applying to the bias element a magnetic field having an AC ringdown characteristic. The redistribution of magnetic charge improves the stability of the bias element, so that the marker incorporating the bias element is less likely to have its resonant frequency shifted by exposure to a stray magnetic field.

摘要： Electronic article surveillance markers, methods for their production and for their use are disclosed. In one aspect there is provided an integrated deactivatable hybrid marker which can be used both in radio frequency and magnetic harmonic article surveillance systems. The harmonics generating element or elements of the marker are inserted into a RF resonant circuit as an active part of the circuit. The deactivation of the marker is accomplished by employing another element of high coercivity magnetic material. When placed in a RF interrogation field, the hybrid marker causes an increase in absorption of transmitted signal in order to reduce the signal in the receiving coil of the RF surveillance system. When placed in an interrogation zone of a magnetic harmonic article surveillance system, the marker generates high harmonics of the interrogating frequency that can be detected by the receiver of the surveillance system. In addition both the RF and harmonic functions of the hybrid marker can be deactivated by a single process. Further more, the use of conductive paste material to print the RF circuits is disclosed to achieve a low cost manufacturing process.

摘要： A single deactivation device (10) is used to deactivate both harmonic type EAS markers and magnetomechanical type EAS markers. The deactivation device includes a housing (12), a permanent magnet (14) and a coil (16) disposed within the housing. The coil is circular and is arranged concentrically with, and outside of, the permanent magnet. The permanent magnet forms a DC magnetic field for deactivating the harmonic type marker by magnetizing control elements thereof. The coil is driven to generate an AC magnetic field that deactivates the magnetomechanical type marker by degaussing a control element thereof. The maximum amplitude of the AC magnetic field is lower than the level of the DC magnetic field, and is substantially below the coercivity of the control elements of the harmonic type marker. The coercivity of the control element of the magnetomechanical type marker is low enough to be degaussed by the AC magnetic field.

摘要： A self-contained conveyor member including a plurality of EAS deactivators is adapted to connect in-line to an existing conveyor system for transporting goods at a manufacturer or distributor's site. The conveyor member has attached to it several commercially available EAS marker deactivators spaced apart to provide continuous coverage across the width of the conveyor and such that the deactivation field of each of the deactivators do not cause interference of the deactivation fields of the adjacent deactivators. EAS markers attached to articles being transported on the conveyor member will pass through at least one of the deactivation fields and will be deactivated. The deactivators selectively deactivate a variety of specific EAS markers such as RF and/or magnetomechanical EAS markers.

摘要： The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for activating and deactivating an electronic article surveillance marker carried by an article. The apparatus includes a housing having a platform for supporting the article. The apparatus also includes a first magnet positioned within the housing adapted for producing a magnetic field of sufficient strength to deactivate the marker. Additionally, the apparatus includes a translating mechanism for translating the first magnet between first and second positions along the platform. The electronic article surveillance marker is deactivated by placing the article onto the platform and translating the first magnet between the first and second positions. The first magnet can also be part of an alternating decaying array of magnets adapted for either activating or deactivating the electronic surveillance marker.
