Providing slit enables to minimize a local distortion caused by a stress from fastening screws to attach the mirror to the motor shaft.

摘要： A compact beam scanning information readout device and method for reading bar code or other information requires little or no orientation of the information to be scanned by virtue of its raster or omni directional scan capabilities. Only a single mirror (9) is needed to generate two dimensional scans. Scanning in two dimensions may be done with independent and continuous control of thescan in each dimension. The scan patterns may be electronically controlled to instantly achieve various orientations ranging from a straight line rotated about a point to continuously rotating complex patterns. A light collector (1), light detector (3), processor (19), and means of signal transmission (29) are also included. In one embodiment the device is packaged in a housing (250) resembling a wand or a thin flashlight and in another embodiment the device is packaged in a ceiling mountable housing (370) which will not interfere with counter top work space.

摘要： A high speed non-contact beam scanning device (20) sized and shaped to provide the ergonomic benefits of a pen or wand (1). The device is well suited for reading one or two dimensional bar-code (9, 10) or other printed matter. In order to achieve the high density optical packaging necessary for its high performance to size benefits, the device employs a novel in-line or 'axial' gyrating, or 'axial' scan element. Reflected light, which carries information contained on the target, is collected by an internal non-imaging light concentrator (34) and is processed by signal processing electronics (24). Communication from the device is achievable by a cable or by wireless communication technique.

The improvement includes means for altering a characteristic of the dynamic member's frequency and Q. Coupling between dynamic members (54, 52) permits altering the second dynamic member's frequency and Q by techniques applied to the first dynamic member (54). Some techniques disclosed also increase oscillation amplitude or reduce driving voltage, and also increase mechanical ruggedness of the structure.
