摘要： A system (10) provides direct automated access to an online information services provider (34a-34n) through an address embedded in a video or audio program, commercial message, or news story. The system operates with video or audio programs which are received through broadcast, cable or pre-recorded media, and which are encoded in either analog or digital formats. The address of an online information provider is encoded in a vertical blanking interval or other non-displayed portion of an electronic signal which represents the video or audio program so as not to interfere with the program as displayed or transduced on a television (22) or audio sound (26) system. The online information provider address is detected (42) and decoded from the electronic signal and used in establishing a direct digital communication link (32) to the online information provider. Upon detecting an online provider address, the system indicates (46) to the user that more information is available. The user may then elect to establish a connection with the online information provider by giving a simple command, e.g., pushing a special button on a remote control (56). The system then automatically establishes a direct digital communication link (32) to the online information provider through the address and provides for interactive information exchange and processing to permit signals received from the online information provider to be displayed on a conventional television (22), transduced on a sound system (26), or also on a high resolution reproducing system (40) such as a computer monitor, or other reproduction device.

摘要： An Automatic Purchase System (APS) provides a radio broadcast listener with the ability to conveniently purchase media content such as music or speech while listening to the radio. The user can respond to items in the radio broadcast such as advertisements, fund raising drives such as those conducted by public radio, or interactive listener polls during the broadcast. Data such as song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored, can be transmitted using the RBDS/RDS data stream. A reference number representing song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored can also be employed for ease of implementation. This reference number can reside in a lookup table to be accessed by the APS server software on a Data Server located at the broadcast site, a remote site or both for purposes of redundancy. Transmission of purchase requests from a Technology Enabled Radio (TER) is provided via wireless transmission, or by accessing the Internet using a personal computer or through a cellular or wireless phone.

摘要： The invention is a method and apparatus to collect and provide viewer feedback to broadcasts. According to one aspect of the present invention, a rating is generated for a broadcast by a server system (170). The rating is based at least in part on viewer feedback (120) to the broadcast, and the rating indicates a likelihood of interest in the broadcast for potential subsequent viewers (180). Access to the rating is then provided so that predications can be made as to whether or not the broadcast will be of interest to potential subsequent viewers (180). According to another aspect of the present invention, the rating is provided from the server system to an entertainment system (100), and the broadcast can be selected for viewing at an entertainment system based on the rating generated by the server system. In one embodiment, the viewer feedback (120) is received at the entertainment system in response to a feedback questionnaire (115).

摘要： A business management method, a business management apparatus and a data broadcast delivery method are disclosed which allows contents to be broadcast over an unused bandwidth in satellite broadcasting so that the contents are stored and later reproduced as needed for quick access to a desired destination recorded in the contents. A data broadcast is assigned to an unused broadcast bandwidth over a broadcast band for transmitting programs in satellite broadcasting. The data broadcast over the unused bandwidth are stored onto a storage medium in a TV set. The stored data contents are sorted out by category for selective viewing by operation of the TV set. If the selected content offers e-commerce, a virtual shop handing desired offerings is accessed as per the content.

摘要： Equipment (2; 15) is used for the reception of multimedia presentations and for their playback to the user, said equipment comprising a storage and presentation apparatus such as a computer (16) or television (3) and a terminal of a bidirectional communications system such as a mobile phone (4) or cordless phone (19). The multimedia information is loaded dynamically, and keys needed to descramble scrambled transmissions are delivered to the user via a bidirectional communications system. In the terminal equipment a local agent (14) which uses only a little of system capacity takes care of information loading and checks the available resources. Bidirectional communications can also be used for making payments to the producer and/or distributor of the multimedia service in the form of operations similar to telebank services.
