    • The invention relates to an airbag module comprising a gas generator (20), a gas bag (40) and a gas guiding device (30) which is connected to the gas bag (40) and the gas generator (20). The gas guiding device (30) comprises at least one outflow opening (70), through which the gas of the gas generator (20) in the gas bag (40) is guided. The aim of the invention is to produce an airbag module which prevents accidents in the handling of an airbag module even more efficiently than before. In particular, the airbag module is not damaged or is only slightly damaged if said airbag module is externally heated, for example in a fire. Said aim is achieved by virtue of the fact that the airbag module (10) is configured in such a manner that if the gas generator (20) is undesirably released, if it is externally heated, in particular, in a fire, it is thrust and maintained at least approximately in the neutral position.

    • The object is to enable inflation and deployment of an airbag (2) so that the passenger is protected more effectively by controlling inflation and deployment of the airbag. According to the present invention, in case of emergency such as a side crash of a vehicle, when gas from an inflator (4) flows quickly forward through a gas inlet passage (3) and reaches the closed end at the front end of the gas inlet passage (3), the internal pressure in the gas inlet passage (3) increases. Then, gas is blown from gas exhaust ports (3a, 3b) into the airbag (2) and the airbag (2) is inflated and deployed. At this moment, the gas exhaust ports (3a, 3b) open in the direction along the inner surface (6a) of the side portion (6) of the vehicle body, so that gas is blown from the gas exhaust ports (3a, 3b) in the same direction and the airbag (2) is inflated and deployed downwardly like a curtain along the inner surface (6a) of the side portion (6) of the vehicle body. Due to this inflation and deployment of the airbag (2), the airbag (2) is inflated and deployed quickly, smoothly and reliably in a relatively narrow space between the inner surface (6a) of the side portion (6) of the vehicle body and the passenger.
