摘要： A method and apparatus is disclosed for decelerating and temporarily accumulating a hot rolled product moving longitudinally along a receiving axis at a first velocity V 1 . The product is directed through a curved guide (25) having an entry end (26a) aligned with the receiving axis (A) to receive the product, and an exit end (26c) spaced radially from the receiving axis and oriented to deliver the product in an exit direction transverse to the receiving axis. The curved guide (25) is rotated about the receiving axis (A) in a direction opposite to the exit direction of the product and at a speed at which the guide exit end (26c) has a velocity V 2 , thereby decelerating the product being delivered from the guide exit end to a reduced velocity V 3 equal to V 1 -V 2 . The curvature of the guide (25) and the orientation of its exit end is such as to form the delivered product into a helix deposited and temporarily accumulated on a cylindrical drum (30). The drum (30) is rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the curved guide (25) to thereby unwind the product from the drum (30).

A block drive is connected to the line shafts at the upstream end of the block, and the couplings are selectively disconnectable to mechanically isolate any downstream line shaft segments and the roll stands connected thereto from the block drive.

摘要： A pinch roll unit (24,26) for either propelling or retarding a product moving along the pass line (PL) of a rolling mill comprises a pair of levers (30a,30b) mounted for rotation about parallel first axes (A 1 ). Roll shafts (32a,32b) are carried by the levers with each roll shaft being journalled for rotation about a second axis (A 2 ) parallel to the first axis of its respective lever. Pinch rolls (34) are carried by the roll shafts and are positioned to define a gap therebetween for receiving the product. An electrically powered first motor (36) operates via a linkage to rotate the levers about the first axes and to move the pinch rolls between open positions spaced from the product, and closed positions contacting and gripping the product therebetween. An electrically powered second motor (56) rotatably drives the pinch rolls.

A multi-stand finishing rolling unit (16) and a multi-stand post finishing rolling unit (18) are arranged sequentially along a second pass line segment (P2). A switch (26) and associated delivery guides (28,30) are selectively operable to direct products from the first pass line segment (P1) to the second pass line segment (P2) either at a location upstream of said finishing rolling unit (16), or alternatively, at a location between the finishing rolling unit (16) and the post finishing rolling unit (18). With this arrangement, final rolling in the post finishing rolling unit (18) may be preceded with or without rolling in the finishing rolling unit (16) and with or without rolling in one or more of the prefinishing rolling units (10,12).

摘要： A system is disclosed for applying a liquid lubricant to first and second components enclosed in a housing, with the lubricant applied to the second components being exposed to contamination by a liquid coolant applied to the exterior of the housing, and with the lubricant applied to the first components being substantially isolated from the liquid coolant. The system includes a partition internally subdividing the housing into a first chamber containing the first components and a second chamber containing the second components. Lubricant is delivered from a storage tank to the housing for application to the first and second components. A first conduit network communicates with the first chamber for returning the lubricant applied to the first components to the storage tank, and a second conduit network communicates with the second chamber for returning lubricant applied to the second components to the storage tank. A liquid coolant removal unit in the second conduit network removes liquid coolant from the lubricant being returned to the storage tank.
