If one of the tongues (10, 11) is prevented from being contacted as a result of the contact (7) being soiled (12), the other tongue (10, 11) is used for contacting, thus providing the position sensor with high redundancy.

There must be a fault, e.g. a broken slider (224, 226), if the detected values of the tapped voltages deviate from corresponding stored values or pairs of values, which can be recognized via a controller (220). This makes it possible to perform a test.
