    • The invention provides a burning type heat source (50) extending along a first direction (D 1) from an ignition end (50Ae) toward a non-ignition end (50Be), the burning type heat source (50) having a single longitudinal hollow (51) extending along the first direction (Dl), characterized in that the longitudinal hollow (51) includes: a first hollow (51A) having a first cross section area in a perpendicular cross section perpendicular to the first direction (D1); and a second hollow (51B) located at a non-ignition end side relative to the first hollow (51A), the second hollow (51B) having a second cross section area smaller than the first cross section area in the perpendicular cross section. The invention also provides a flavor inhaler (100) including such a burning type heat source (50), and a holder (30) that holds the burning type heat source (50).

    • There is provided a method of manufacturing a combustible heat source (100) having a barrier (110) affixed to an end face (112) thereof. The method comprises providing a hollow die (130) having a first opening and an opposed second opening; covering the first opening of the hollow die (130) with a laminar barrier material (160); punching a barrier (110) from the laminar barrier material (160) by inserting a first punch (140) into the hollow die (130) through the first opening; placing one or more particulate components(120) in the hollow die (130)through the second opening; compressing the one or more particulate components (120) to form a combustible heat source (100) and affix the barrier (110) to an end face (112) of the combustible heat source (100) by inserting a second punch (150) into the hollow die (130) through the second opening; and ejecting the combustible heat source (100) having the barrier (110) affixed to the end face (112) thereof from the hollow die (130).
