摘要： A method of beneficiating a particulate carbonaceous material such as coal, including formation of a slurry of the material in an aqueous salt solution. The slurry is separated in a cyclone into a low-density fraction and a high-density fraction with the low-density fraction having particulate carbonaceous material with a lower sulfur content and lower ash content than the particulate carbonaceous material in the high-density fraction. The particulate carbonaceous material with a lower sulfur content and lower ash content is separated from the low-density fraction but a residue of the aqueous salt solution is left thereon. The separated particulate carbonaceous material with a residual portion of the salt is used as a fuel in a process producing carbonaceous gases with at least a portion of the lower sulfur content gettered in solid form by the residual salt or further lowered in a process producing superclean coal. Potassium salts as well as calcium and nickel salts are disclosed.

摘要： Embodiments of a process for producing high grade coke from crude oil residue include at least partially separating, in a solvent extraction unit, the crude oil residue into a deasphalted oil (DAO)-containing stream and an asphaltene containing-stream, producing a pressurized, heated DAO-containing stream, where the pressurized, heated DAO-containing stream, mixing a supercritical water stream with the pressurized, heated DAO-containing stream to create a combined feed stream, introducing the combined feed stream to an upgrading reactor system operating at supercritical temperature and pressure to yield one or more upgrading reactor output streams comprising upgraded product and a slurry mixture, where the slurry mixture comprises sulfur and one or more additional metals. The process also may include calcining the slurry mixture at a temperature of from 700° C. to 1900° C. to produce a product stream comprising the high grade coke.

摘要： This disclosure pertains to the use of black liquors from kraft pulp mills as a source of catalysts for the thermochemical conversion of organic matter feedstocks to bio oils. More particularly, some embodiments pertain to integrated kraft pulp mill and thermochemical conversion systems, which include: a Kraft pulp mill comprising a digester for digesting a lignocellulosic material with white liquor to produce pulp and black liquors; a thermochemical conversion subsystem comprising: at least one mixing tank for combining pulping liquors received from the pulp mill with an organic matter feedstock and water to produce a reaction mixture; a reactor vessel for treating the reaction mixture received from the mixing tank at a reaction temperature and pressure suitable for conversion of all or a portion of the organic matter in the reaction mixture into a product mixture comprising a bioproduct and an aqueous stream containing both organic and inorganic compounds; and a depressurizer for depressurizing product mixture received from the reactor vessel; and one or more conveyors for conveying the pulping liquors from the pulp mill to the mixing tank.
