摘要： Devices and methods for removing tissue, which causes minimal pain or scarring. A hemostatic clamp having two arms with juxtaposeablefaces, can compress tissue between the faces of the arms so as to fuse a portion of the tissue therebetween. A locking mechanism maintains pressure on the arms until the skin is fused to create a skin tab. The unwanted tissue, such as a polydactyl digit, skin tag, or the like, can be excised with the clamp in position. When the locking mechanism is disengaged and the clamp is removed, the fused skin tab inhibits bleeding and the removal of the digit encourages any remaining underlying nerves to withdraw from the area of amputation. A related device can be used as a castration clamp to externally compress testicular-related tissues, such as ductiles, nerves, and blood vessels leading to the testicles, to castrate an animal. The castration clamp provides a quick, bloodless technique that eliminates the need for open wounds, which are subject to infection.

摘要： Elastic band ligation device for treating hemorrhoidal tissue, including an inner tube for retaining an elastic band, a plunger in the inner tube for drawing hemorrhoidal tissue into the inner tube, and an outer tube pusher sleeve disposed over the inner tube. A thumb pusher on the sleeve allows the operator to push the sleeve towards the front of the inner tube to deploy the elastic band from the front end of the inner tube onto hemorrhoidal tissue drawn into the inner tube. The sleeve has a locking mechanism including a tab for locking the sleeve to the inner tube to prevent relative movement of the sleeve and inner tube until the sleeve is unlocked by the user, thereby preventing premature deployment of an elastic band.

According to one aspect, the system includes at least one supporting element for insertion into or placement on at least a portion of a tissue wall proximate a puncture to prevent expansion of the puncture; and a closing element adapted for at least partial insertion into the tissue wall and shaped to compress at least a portion of a tissue wall in an inward direction to close the tissue puncture when inserted at least partially into the tissue wall.

摘要： The invention relates to tacking devices for use in minimally invasive surgery that have a quantity indicator on a distal end that can be seen through a scope and that show a number of fasteners remaining in the device. A surgeon can watch the delivery of fasteners while simultaneously seeing f a number of fasteners remaining. This allows a hernia mesh to be properly fixed into place without going astray during the delicate initial placement procedure and also for even spacing of the fasteners on the mesh. The patient's post-operative recovery progresses well, and excessive pain is avoided. Methods of the invention include viewing the surgical site via the scope while also viewing the indicator via the scope.
