    • An electronic component feeder is provided for feeding electronic components in their stable position into an electronic component mounting apparatus and allowing the taking up of a top tape with high stability thus increasing the speed of component mounting action. As the top tape (4) is being taken up on a reel (42), a shutter (34) moves backward together with a slit (51) provided integral on the shutter (34). The turning in the tape take-up direction of the reel (42) is driven by the restoring force of a return spring (39). When the reel (42) has completed its take-up motion, the electronic component (1) can be picked up at a component pick-up location with the shutter (34) staying backward. A stationary roller (31) is provided between the slit (51) and the reel (42) and a movable roller (32) is provided for keeping the length of the top tape (4) between the slit (51) and the stationary roller (31) substantially constant.

    • An apparatus for supplying chip parts comprises a chip part supplying apparatus whereby electronic parts in a chip form accumulated at random directions are being supplied in an orderly line and a chip part feeding means which works to transfer the forefront one of the aligned chip parts onto a circuit component such as a printed circuit board is being disclosed here. Chip parts housed at random directions in a hopper are taken into a discharge channel being organized to a prescribed direction and transferred through said discharge channel before being discharged through its bottom end onto a conveying belt before being carried by said belt toward a prescribed direction. A clearance is forcefully caused between the forefront chip part and the next chip part at the stage just before the forefront chip part is picked up, said clearance occurring between the two chip parts working to separate the two chip parts completely. Said forefront chip part thus separated is being picked up by a means such as a suction head before being transferred to a circuit component including a printed circuit board.

    • A carrier tape and cover strip are provided for storing electronic components and for supplying those components, in series, to a machine. The carrier tape includes a strip portion having spaced longitudinal edge surfaces, and a plurality of pockets formed in the strip portion. The cover strip is applied over the pockets to contain electronic components therein, and is bonded along two outer bonding portions to the edge surfaces of the carrier tape. The cover strip includes a pair of longitudinal tear lines which enable progressive separation of a medial portion of the cover strip overlying the pockets from the bonding portions to expose the contents of the pockets. In one embodiment, the cover strip includes nicks in the bonding portions thereof for providing a predetermined direction of tear in the bonding portions to initiate a tear along each of said longitudinal tear lines when said cover strip is removed from said top surface.
