摘要： We disclose a method for printing by rotogravure, flexography, offset, inkjet or electrophotography invisible images that are viewable under UV light. The method generates juxtaposed dispersed dot halftones by first creating juxtaposed clustered dot halftones and by applying to them dispersed dot halftoning according to an ink-level reduction factor. Dispersed dot halftoning is embodied by random threshold error diffusion. The resulting dispersed dot halftones comprise pixel segments located within the areas defined by the clustered dots. These pixel segments specify the areas of the cells to be engraved onto the rotogravure cylinder. For offset, the segments are imaged onto an offset plate, for electrophotography they are imaged onto a photoconductor. The disclosed juxtaposed dispersed dot halftoning method can be embedded into a framework for the reproduction of fluorescent full color images with three or more invisible fluorescent inks. These invisible fluorescent color images offer a strong protection against counterfeits.

摘要： A printing method for printing a digital image on a substantially flat substrate, the printing method comprising the steps of providing the digital image comprising a raster of a plurality of pixels, the digital image comprising colour information for each pixel, providing a height channel to the digital image defining a height for each pixel, the height having a minimum value, discriminating in the digital image for each pixel a relief part, a white part and a skin part, the parts constituting the height of the pixel and the relief part comprising an arbitrary colorant composition, the white part comprising a number of colorants including a white colorant and the skin part comprising colorants according to a colour as defined by the colour information for each pixel, providing an inking mask comprising a binary image of areas of the substrate to be finished and areas of the substrate not to be finished, image processing of the digital image by applying the inking mask to the image, wherein the height of a pixel within an area of the substrate to be finished is reduced by substantially reducing a height of the relief part of said pixel, and wherein the height of a pixel within an area of a substrate not to be finished is left unchanged, and printing the processed image obtained in the image processing step on the substrate.

摘要： The present invention enables creating authenticable multi-ink luminescent continuous tone color halftone images offering means of verifying their authenticity. The invented luminescent color halftone image synthesizing techniques enable increasing the attractiveness and aesthetics of color images. The invention relies on daylight luminescent inks, color prediction models for daylight luminescent halftones, color gamuts of luminescent and non-luminescent inks, color separation into luminescent and non-luminescent ink layers, mapping of input gamuts into a luminescent target gamuts by gamut reduction and/or expansion strategies, and luminescent color halftone image generation. The basic authentication is performed by examining the excitation trace image of the synthesized luminescent color halftone image under an illuminant active within its excitation wavelength range. Further authentication means include hiding messages under one or several different illuminants as well as hiding message with different sets of luminescent inks. Hidden messages are recovered under illuminants different from their reference illuminant.

摘要： A method of hot-melt printing, comprising: printing a melt of an opaque material and at least one translucent pigmented material onto a nonwhite substrate, the opaque material and the at least one translucent pigmented material being supplied from different printheads. The opaque material and the at least one translucent pigmented material mix on the substrate. The printing further comprises: printing at least one desired color comprising multiple printed layers of the opaque material and the at least one translucent pigmented material. The multiple printed layers comprises: at least a first layer comprising the opaque material and the at least one translucent pigmented material, the first layer having a predetermined first ratio of opaque material to translucent pigmented material being less than or equal to 1:1; and at least a second layer comprising the opaque material and the at least one translucent pigmented material, the second layer having a predetermined second ratio of opaque material to translucent pigmented material being less than or equal to 1:1. The first ratio and the second ratio are substantially equal. A sum of the first printed layer and second printed layer produces the desired color being optically indistinguishable in the visual spectrum from the same color printed onto a white substrate using opaque color inks.
