    • Disclosed is a portable device for measuring temperature with infrared array sensor. This portable device includes: an infrared array sensor module for taking temperature values in a unit of pixel and including a plurality of infrared sensors arranged in an array of pixels; a controller for calculating a resultant temperature value of a subject with reference to the temperature values taken each by the sensors; a display for expressing the resultant temperature value calculated by the controller; and a view finder with an indicator defining a target point to be measured for temperature and having a profile corresponding to the whole or a local shape of the subject. The view finder is formed of a transparent plate on which the subject's shape is reflected. The transparent plate is formed of: a notch representing the indicator; and a lens at least provided in the indicator.

    • Provided according to one embodiment is a thermostat having a housing including a forward-facing surface comprising a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor disposed inside the housing for sensing occupancy in the vicinity of the thermostat. The PIR motion sensor has a radiation receiving surface that detects the lateral movement of an occupant in front of the forward-facing surface. A grille member having one or more openings is also included along the forward-facing surface and placed over the radiation receiving surface of the PIR motion sensor. The grille member is dimensioned to visually conceal and protect the PIR motion sensor disposed inside the housing promoting a visually pleasing quality of the thermostat, while also permitting the PIR motion sensor to effectively detect the lateral movement of the occupant. In one embodiment, the grille member openings are slit-like openings oriented along a substantially horizontal direction.

    • A measuring apparatus for an ear thermometer comprising: a common voltage line; a built-in battery serving as a power source; a connector to receive a connector of the probe, having a common voltage terminal connected to the common voltage line; a flash-type microcontroller to control a temperature sensor of the probe, receive a resistance value output signal corresponding to a measured temperature from the temperature sensor, convert the signal into a digital temperature value, and output the digital temperature value, the microcontroller having a test port, a program write port, and a common voltage port connected to the common voltage line, establishing a flash mode when a HIGH voltage higher than a first predetermined voltage is applied to the test port, to enable a program to be written through the write port, and establishing a run mode when a LOW voltage lower than the first predetermined voltage is applied to the test port; a voltage regulator having an input side connected to the common voltage line, to provide a constant reference voltage; and a mode switching circuit connected to the common voltage line, to apply the HIGH voltage to the test port of the microcontroller when a common voltage is higher than a second predetermined voltage, apply the LOW voltage to the test port of the microcontroller when the common voltage is lower than the second predetermined voltage, and bypass a leakage current passing from the common voltage line to the mode switching circuit toward an output of the voltage regulator so as to combine them together, the connector having the common voltage terminal, a battery power source terminal connected to the built-in battery, a program write terminal connected to the write port of the microcontroller, and a sensor connection terminal to receive the resistance value output signal corresponding to a measured temperature from the temperature sensor of the probe.

A thermal image sensor (106) measures thermal radiation from a distant object in several thermal measurement points on the object. A distance determination device includes an image sensor (104) and calculates a distance to the object in several distance measurement points. A thermal image indicating an amount of thermal radiation from each thermal measurement point on the object is captured by the thermal image sensor. Reflected light from the object is captured by the image sensor. Several distances are calculated using the captured light. Each distance indicates a distance from the image sensor to a distance measurement point on the object. The data from the thermal image and the calculated distances are combined to determine a temperature in several temperature measurement points on the object.

    • An IR camera comprises: a thermal radiation capturing arrangement for capturing thermal radiation of an imaged view in response to input control unit(s) receiving user inputs from a user of the IR camera; a processing unit arranged to process the thermal radiation data in order for the thermal radiation data to be displayed by an IR camera display as thermal images; and a IR camera display arranged to display thermal images to a user of the IR camera.
