摘要： In a method, receiver and display device a compressed data stream is decompressed. Decompression may cause ringing effect. In order to reduce ringing effects an analysis window (AWH, AWV) is used, which is divided into two sub-areas (AWH1, AWH2, AWV1, AWV2) along a dividing line d. For each of the sub areas a maximum pixel value gradient (MAXD1, MAXD2) is determined, wherein gradients are determined in two directions. If the maximum of all gradients (max(MAXD1, MAXD2) exceeds a threshold (max(MAXD1,MAXD2)>Tmax), low pass filtering is applied, provided that the difference between the maximum gradients for each of the areas is above a threshold (æMAXD2-MAXD1æ >T1). The direction of low pass filtering is determined by the sign of the difference of the between the maximum pixel value gradient for the sub-areas.

摘要： The invention to which this application relates is to provide an improvement in the operation of a power amplifier especially, although not necessarily exclusively, of the type used in data transmitters and modems. The invention allows the utilisation of pre-distortion techniques to pre-distort the digital baseband transmit signal into the PA. The pre-distortion occurs with respect to feedback data received via a feedback loop from the output of the PA, rather than referring to look-up tables as is conventionally the case. This therefore allows the utilisation of a low cost low power PA rather than the conventional requirement for a high power and more expensive PA to be used due to the need for a high degree of linearity to be achieved.

Broadcast Data Receivers are used to receive digital data transmitted from a remote location, process the same and then generate video, audio and auxiliary services. However the Broadcast data receiver is typically located in a household and can be susceptible to general and/or local conditions which affect the reception of the data signals at different frequencies. The present invention provides a method for optimising the signal reception at the broadcast data receiver location by allowing the analysis of amplitude gain control levels of the broadcast data receiver and then selecting the amplitude gain control levels and/or other levels which optimise the quality of the received signal at each frequency.
