    • Implementations relate to continuation of playback of media content by different devices. In some implementations, a method includes causing a stream of media content data to be received from a stream source and output by a first device to a user, where a portion of the data is buffered on the first device before output. An indication is detected that the user has stopped using the first device for output of the content data. A place marker indicates a portion of the content that is output approximately at the time of the indication. The method causes the stream of content data to be received and output by a second device starting at the place marker portion. The buffered content data is sent from the first device to the second device for output by the second device before unbuffered portions of the content data received from the stream source.

    • In some implementations, a system and corresponding method for load balancing data traffic addressed to an anycast address include maintaining, by each of a plurality of load balancing (LB) devices a data structure including entries associated with application instances in a group of application instances served by the LB device. The frequency with which each served application instance is included in the data structure is indicative of a weight value associated with a capacity of the corresponding served application instance. Upon receiving a data packet, originally addressed to an anycast address, the LB device uses one or more header fields of the received data packet to identify a virtual Internet protocol (IP) address of one of the served application instances in the data structure maintained by the LB device. The LB device then forwards the data packet to the identified application instance.

    • Methods and systems for generating a forwarding table for a packet switch. The system includes a route manager for the packet switch, configured to identify a plurality of multi-path groups each corresponding to a respective initial set of routing entries in the forwarding table and generate, for one or more multi-path groups, at least one replacement set of routing entries with fewer routing entries than the initial set corresponding to the respective multi-path group. The route manager selects, based on a traffic reduction cost metric, one or more of the replacement sets of routing entries, each corresponding to a different respective multi-path group, and updates the forwarding table with the selected replacement sets. In some implementations, the traffic reduction cost metric includes a traffic characteristic. In some implementations, the packet switch participates in a software-defined network (SDN) and the route manager is part of an SDN controller.
