    • The invention relates to a short-circuiting device for use in low-voltage and medium-voltage systems for the protection of parts and personnel, comprising a switching element, which can be actuated by the tripping signal of a fault detection device, two mutually opposite contact electrodes having power supply means, wherein contact can be made with said contact electrodes at a circuit having connections at different potentials, furthermore the contact electrodes, under mechanical prestress, carry out a relative movement in relation to one another in the event of a short-circuit assisted by spring force, and a further part short-circuits the contact electrodes in a relative movement with respect to said contact electrodes, a sacrificial element as the spacer between the contact electrodes and having an electrical connection between the sacrificial element and the switching element, on the one hand, and one of the contact electrodes, on the other hand, in order to bring about thermal destruction of the sacrificial element in a targeted manner owing to current flow. In a first embodiment of the invention, the sacrificial element is a thin-walled hollow cylinder consisting of a high-melting metallic material. In a second embodiment of the invention, the sacrificial element is a wire or rod consisting of a conductive material having a low melting integral, wherein the sacrificial element is under mechanical prestress under tension in contrast to the first embodiment.

    • The invention relates to an overvoltage protection device with a mechanical arresting device which is activated in the case of thermal overload, wherein said devices comprise connector elements which can be moved by means of a spring-loaded or pretensioned slider (4) from a closed position to a position in which current is interrupted or voltage is cut off, and wherein the closed position of the connector elements is maintained by a solder material or a thermally detachable adhesive. According to the invention, the connector elements consist of a pair of current-dividing metallic brackets (1, 1'), wherein the ends of said brackets (1, 1') which are directed toward the overvoltage protection element run parallel and include the corresponding contact lug (14) therebetween. The ends of the brackets (1, 1') which are turned away from the overvoltage protection element are connected to each other, enclosing a free space, and have a section (12) for external connector components or connector clamps. The slider (4) with pretensioned spring (2) is set in the free space, wherein the spring pretensioning is directed in the direction of the contact lug (14) of the overvoltage protection element. Furthermore, the slider (4) has a wedge shape and/or sections of the brackets have an inclined surface in order to generate a force component on the parallel ends of the brackets when the slider moves in such a way that said ends of the brackets can be moved away by the contact lug. The aforementioned solder or adhesive connection is formed in the area of the parallel ends of the brackets and the contact lug.

    • The invention relates to an encapsulated, pressure-resistant, non-hermetically sealed heavy-duty spark gap which is rotationally symmetrical in terms of its basic design and has two main electrodes, which are spaced apart opposite one another, a metallic outer housing having end-side flanging, at least one trigger electrode, a discharge space and electrical connection contacts, which are preferably arranged on the end side, for the main electrodes and main electrode embedding and centring bodies for fixing the main electrodes to one another and in relation to the outer housing. According to the invention, in a first embodiment an insulated wire or preferably strip-shaped conductor is inserted into a slit-shaped space between an outer side of one of the main electrodes and the associated side of the main electrode embedding and centring body so as to make contact with the trigger electrode, wherein the outer connection end of the conductor is accessible in the region of the end-side connection contact of the main electrode in question, and the inner end of the conductor, from which end the insulation has been stripped, is electrically connected to the trigger electrode. In a second embodiment, in order to make contact with the trigger electrode, one of the main electrode embedding and centring bodies is insulated and has a drilled hole running in the axial longitudinal direction, wherein a spring contact part is located in this drilled hole, the inner end of said spring contact part making contact with the trigger electrode and its outer end being accessible in the region of the associated end-side outer contact for the electrical connection.
