    • The invention relates to a method for the qualitative and quantitative determination of genetic material that contains a known target sequence characteristic of the material and that can be present in addition to or mixed with another genetic material. According to the invention, a suspension that contains the genetic material with the target sequence and optionally other genetic material is (1) mixed with a molar excess of a first oligonucleotide probe whose nucleotide sequence is complementary to the target sequence, and optionally (2) mixed with a molar excess of a second oligonucleotide probe whose nucleotide sequence is complementary to a nucleotide sequence that is contained in all components of the entire genetic material to which the quantification shall apply. The entire genetic material, as far as double-stranded, is then converted to single strands, the first oligonucleotide probe is hybridized to the target sequence and optionally the second oligonucleotide probe is hybridized to the nucleotide sequence that is contained in all components of the genetic material. The concentration(s) of the non-hybridized first and optionally second oligonucleotide probe in the suspension is then determined and the share of genetic material having the target sequence in the entire genetic material to which the quantification shall be applied is determined from the concentration(s).

    • The invention describes enhanced scintigraphic imaging agents that can be used to localize infection and inflammation in a mammal. Specifically, the invention relates to radiolabeled, preferably technetium-99m labeled scintigraphic imaging agents that are compositions of a polysulfated glycan or mixture thereof and a compound comprising a polybasic peptide covalently linked to a radiolabel binding moiety. Methods and kits for making such compositions, and methods for using such compositions to image sites of infection and inflammation in a mammalian body are also provided. The enhanced imaging agents exhibit improved binding affinity to the polysulfated glycans, better biodistribution and infection uptake, thus providing improved imaging results.

    • This invention relates to metallocene compositions and their use in the preparation of catalyst systems for olefin polymerization, particularly propylene polymerization. The metallocenes of the present invention may be represented by the formula:
         wherein: M is a metal of Group 4, 5, or 6 of the Periodic Table;
         R 1 and R 2 are identical or different, and are one of a hydrogen atom, a C 1 -C 10 alkyl group, a C 1 -C 10 alkoxy group, a C 6 -C 10 aryl group, a C 6 -C 10 aryloxy group, a C 2 -C 10 alkenyl group, a C 7 -C 40 arylalkyl group, a C 7 -C 40 alkylaryl group, a C 8 -C 40 arylalkenyl group, or a halogen atom, or are a conjugated diene which is optionally substituted with one or more hydrocarbyl, tri(hydrocarbyl)silyl groups or hydrocarbyl, tri(hydrocarbyl)silylhydrocarbyl groups, said diene having up to 30 atoms not counting hydrogen;
