The post (20, 50) is hollow and includes a triangular pyramid-shaped or quadrangular pyramid-shaped post top (21, 51) and a cylindrical post barrel (22, 52) which extends between the post top (21, 51) and the base (11). The post top (21, 51) has three or four pyramid-element faces (21a, 51a) and three or four ridge portions (21b, 51b) between the pyramid-element faces (21a, 51a). The post barrel (22, 52, 72) has slits (25, 55) or grooves (75) which are elongated in the axial direction at the positions circumferentially corresponding to the ridge portions (21b, 51b).

    • The present invention provides a tack which prevents puckering phenomenon from being generated when the tack is pierced into cloth and enables a firm engagement between the tack and a boss portion of a button. In the tack (1) for button, a cylindrical post (4) stands on the center of a seat plate (3) and a quadrangular pyramid shaped head (5) is formed at an end of the post (4). The head (5) is pointed such that a vertical angle of each of peripheral faces of the head (5) is in a range of 20 to 40°. Four corners (7) on a proximal periphery (6) of the head (5) are protruded out of an outer peripheral face of the post (4) so as to form an engaging portion (8) which bites into a wall face of an attaching hole (17) in a boss portion (2) of the button. When the tack (1) is pierced into cloth, because the head (5) makes a linear contact with the cloth and it is pointed, no puckering phenomenon occurs, thereby making it possible to engage and fix the tack (1) to the boss portion (2) firmly.
