    • A piston rod (2) with a piston (21), against which a displaceable valve ring (23), a short, axially rigid striking pin (3), guided in a bush (24), and a pressure transformer piston (25) are set, is immovably placed in one part of the supporting housing (1). A working tool (4) is placed in the second part of the supporting housing (1) in a tool bush (27) protected on the outside by a lower sealing cover (29) to prevent corrosion. A gas chamber (45) is set up under the supporting housing (1), the pressure transformer piston (25) and the striking pin (3). A pressure transformer cylinder (43) and an equalizing chamber (44) are formed between the piston rod (2) and the pressure transformer piston (25). The striking pin (3) is driven by working fluid under pressure, which is distributed by a system of channels in the piston rod (2). The striking pin (3) is driven onto the working tool (4) in a striking action by high-pressure gas, which is pressurized in the gas chamber (45). The movement of the striking pin (3) is controlled by a switching element (20), fitted in the piston rod (2), and a valve ring (23), pushed onto the piston rod surface. It is assisted by the pressure transformer, which eliminates pressure peaks of the working fluid.
