    • A hydraulic lash adjuster having a reduced number of elements, yet capable of suppressing air from infusing into a high-pressure chamber (28). A plunger (14) is slidably fitted in a body (13). A reservoir (24) is formed in the plunger (14). The plunger's head portion (19) is formed with a communication hole (25) for communicating its interior with its exterior. A high-pressure chamber (28) is formed in the body (13) and between the plunger's bottom (20) and the bottom of the body (13). An oil supply hole (40) is formed in the peripheral wall (21) of the plunger. A valve mechanism (42) is provided at the plunger's bottom (20), between the body (13) and the plunger (14) via a return spring (41). Provided on the inner periphery of the plunger (14) is an inclined area (51b), subjected to impingement of oil jet ji ejected from the oil supply hole (40) and serving as an impingement area, such that the impingement area (51b) is more inclined to fall in the direction of the ejected oil as the inclined area (51b) nears the plunger's head portion (19).

      [Solution] There is provided a method for manufacturing a poppet valve 10, in which a valve head 14 having a seat surface N is provided in one end of a valve stem 12 in a longitudinal direction, by forging, wherein an intermediate valve head 14' in a intermediate valve products 10' is provided with a pressing protrusions 15 in a region serving as the seat surface N after forging, the pressing protrusions 15 having a peak 15a positioned in a normal direction K2 of the seat surface N on a basis of the seat surface N of the forged valve head 14, in a sectional view the peak 15a of the pressing protrusions 15 is positioned on a normal line K2 passing a reference point P3 set on a virtual line (line segment K) connecting a base point P1 in an inner diameter side and a base point P2 in an outer diameter side of the seat surface N, and as viewed in a center axis X1 direction of the valve stem 12, a position of the reference point P3 is set such that a relation between a length L1 from the base point P1 in the inner diameter side to the reference point P3 and a length L2 from the base point P2 in the outer diameter side to the reference point P3 meets a formula of L1/L2 ≤ 0.5.

    • OBJECT To provide a burring apparatus for a friction welding machine, capable of removing a burr created in friction welding immediately after the welding. MEANS FOR ACHIEVING THE OBJECT An inventive burring apparatus for a friction welding machine comprises: a clamp unit (25), provided at the front end of a horizontal main spindle (22), for holding the work piece W1 coaxial with the main spindle (22); a clamp unit (34) provided at the front end of a slide (30) that is movable to and away from the main spindle (22) in the direction of the axis L of the main spindle (22), the clamp unit (34) adapted to gripping the work (W2) coaxial with the slide (30); and a doughnut-shaped cutter (50) for shearing off a burr. The work piece W2 is moved forward together with the slide (30) through the doughnut-shaped cutter (50) ahead of the main spindle (22) until the work piece W2 comes into contact with the work piece W1 in rotation with the main spindle 22 so that the mated ends of the work pieces W1 and W2 are friction welded together on one side of the doughnut-shaped cutter (50) proximate to the main spindle (22), thereby forming a jointed work piece W. After the work pieces W1 and W2 are friction welded, the cutter 50 is moved over to the main spindle 22 Meanwhile, the burr w formed on the periphery of the jointed work is sheared off by the cutter. The jointed work piece W gripped by the main spindle (22) is then liberated from the main spindle 22, and the slide (30) is retracted to its home position. The chopped burr comes off the work piece W when the jointed work piece W is removed through the cutter 50.
