    • PURPOSE:To produce efficiently cracked gas which does not contain solid carbon and water, by analyzing cracked gas produced for its components and adjusting the ratio of carbon to water in a material to be treated by using the resulting analysis values. CONSTITUTION:A base metal in a melting furnace 1 is heated to form a molten metal part 2 onto which a material to be treated such as industrial waste from a feeder 11 is then supplied for cracking. Produced gas is removed through a gas passage 4, a water seal trap 5 and a communicating passage 6, supplied to a combustion chamber and used as heat a source. (In org. component in said material to be treated is molten and the molten metal part 2 is covered with the resulting molten inorg. component 3 in the form of a layer.) In the above treating process, part of gas produced is recovered from the communicating passage 6 in a sampling apparatus 7. The amounts of components such as CO2, CO and H2 in the cracked gas are measured by means of a gas analyzer 8. Electromagnetic valves 9A, 10A are operated through a controller 11 by using the values obtd., and required materials are supplied from a carbon supply source 9 and a water supply source 10 to the melting furnace 1. The process is controlled in such a manner that solid carbon is not present in the cracked gas.
