    • Apparatus for mounting an electric motor, which is adapted to drive an endless belt at a predetermined tension, to a stationary frame, includes a housing that is adapted to receive the motor. A drive shaft extends from the front end of the housing and is adapted to drive the belt. An elongated base mount is integrally formed on the outside surface of the housing and extends from the front of the housing for pivotally coupling the housing to the stationary frame. The base mount has a first end and a second end, and a bore which extends longitudinally at least partially through the base mount from the first end and the second end of the base mount. A substantially rigid tab is fixedly attached to the cylindrical housing at a substantially opposite side from the base mount. The tension on the belt is set by applying a biasing force on the tab to pivot the motor about the axis of the base mount.

    • A system and method for tensioning a belt drive in a remotely controlled video camera is provided in which the belt drive tensioning system has an accessory pulley. A receptacle has a substantially circular opening and an extension. The extension is disposed partially around a periphery of an end of the circular opening and projects partially over the opening. A drive pulley is substantially coplanar with the accessory pulley. A housing has a body wall, a first longitudinal axis and a substantially circular tab provided at an end region of the body wall. The substantially circular tab has a second longitudinal axis which is parallel and eccentric to the first longitudinal axis. A drive pulley is substantially coaxially aligned along the first longitudinal axis and is rotatably coupled to the housing. The housing is configured to engage the receptacle in a first position where the drive pulley is at a first distance from the accessory pulley. The housing is rotatably transitionable between the first position and a second position within the receptacle so that the substantially circular tab is engaged by the extension when the housing is transitioned to the second position where the drive pulley is at a second distance from the accessory pulley. The second distance being greater than the first distance.

    • A spring clutch can obtain stable engaging and idling functions. Torque transmitting surfaces having substantially the same diameter are formed on the inner periphery of a pulley hub, which is mounted on a rotary shaft, and on the inner periphery of a pulley. A coil spring pressed into both torque-transmitting surfaces is mounted so as to straddle and thereby frictionally engage with both torque-transmitting surfaces. A chamfer is provided on the outer peripheral edge of an end face of the coil spring to stabilize the engaging and idling functions of the spring clutch.

    • A tensioner for tensioning engine driven driving elements, such as belts or chains, is disclosed. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, the tensioner is initially installed with the pivot structure spaced past the perpendicular angular position thereof. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, the tension required to move the pivot structure to the end of its range of angular positions is at least 75% more than at the hot engine angular position thereof. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, the tensioner has a stop at the maximum travel position thereof and the tension required to move the pivot structure to its maximum travel position is at least 75% more than at the hot engine angular position thereof. In accordance with a still further aspect of the invention, the tension required to move the pivot structure to a potential tooth skip angular position is greater than the maximum tension the engine is capable of creating.
