    • A sealed perforating gun assembly for use with automatic pipe handling equipment on oil and gas drill rigs. An upper sealed connector and a lower sealed connector have sealed threaded connections for mating with ends of a perforating gun. The connectors have external dimensions equivalent to the external dimensions of standard drill pipe and have standard tapered thread couplings. Ignition transfer explosives are carried within cavities in the connectors. The cavities are sealed on their drill pipe coupling ends. The ignition transfer explosives are adapted to penetrate the seals so that ignition can be transferred between the gun assembly and adjacent sections of the gun string. Since the external dimensions of the sealed connectors correspond to the external dimensions of drill pipe, automatic drill pipe handling equipment can handle the gun assemblies.

    • A multi-cycle pressure operated firing head for use in a subterranean well. In a described embodiment, a pressure actuated firing head for detonating a perforating gun in a subterranean well includes a firing mechanism and a member which displaces incrementally in response to alternating pressure increases and decreases applied to the firing head. The firing mechanism fires when the member displaces a predetermined distance. In another embodiment, a firing head includes a firing mechanism and a displacement mechanism which displaces a member of the firing head in response to a decrease in a pressure level proximate the firing head in the well. The firing mechanism fires when the member is displaced by the displacement mechanism.

    • The invention discloses methods of, as well as apparatus and systems for, perforating and treating multiple intervals of one or more subterranean formations intersected by a wellbore by deploying within said wellbore a bottom-hole assembly (nullBHAnull) having a perforating device, a sealing mechanism and at least one pressure equalization means that establishes pressure communication between the portions of the wellbore above and below the sealing mechanism. The BHA is positioned within the wellbore such that the sealing mechanism, when actuated, establishes a hydraulic seal in the wellbore to positively force fluid to enter the perforations corresponding to the interval to be treated. A treating fluid is pumped down the wellbore and into the perforations created in the perforated interval. The sealing mechanism is released, and the steps are repeated for as many intervals as desired, without having to remove the BHA from said wellbore.

    • A one-trip through tubing window milling system is disclosed. The whipstock is delivered with the mill and downhole motor in a downhole assembly which further includes MWD equipment for proper whipstock orientation. The entire assembly is run through tubing and the MWD equipment orients the whipstock. A motor lock prevents the downhole motor from turning as fluid pressure is applied to properly anchor the whipstock below the production tubing. The motor lock is defeated and the milling commenced using the downhole motor. At the conclusion of the window milling, the bottom hole assembly, including the mill, is removed and a retrieving tool releases the whipstock for retrieval through the production tubing.

    • The present invention includes a perforating gun and method of using the same to perforate casing in a wellbore. The perforating gun includes a hollow carrier having a core. Mounted within the core are components including at least one charge and at least one plug for sealing the charge within the core. Preferably, a pair of end plugs are used to seal the ends of the carrier about the charge or charges. A string of tubing is used to position the perforating gun adjacent the casing to be perforated. The charge or charges are detonated creating perforation tunnels in the casing and surrounding wellbore. A drill is then used to drill out the core of the carrier to provide ready access through the carrier for other tools and fluid flow. The carrier is ideally of a stronger material than the core components and enhances drillability of the core by providing guidance as the drill removes the core components.
