The removable steering wheel device includes a steering wheel having a boss engageable with an upper end of a steering column of the vehicle. The boss includes a bore and a base wall at the bottom of the bore. A bayonet connection assembly for removably connecting the boss to the upper end of the steering column. A locking cap disposed within the bore for fixing the bayonet connection between the boss and the upper end. The locking cap including an assembly for preventing rotation of the boss relative to the upper end, and including an assembly for fixing the locking cap within the bore.

    • A lock mechanism for use with lever handles includes a lock core and a latch mechanism that is rigidly connected to the lock core to prevent the lock core from rotating in the door. Through-bolts are not needed, allowing a small diameter rose to be used. Stops and a spring return mechanism are entirely located within the lock core, allowing the rose to be thin. The lock core defines the rest position for the lever handles at an angle slightly above horizontal. To avoid the necessity for producing different locks in left and right-hand configurations, the lock core is made substantially symmetrical about a vertical plane, instead of a horizontal plane, and the inner and outer sides of the lock mechanism can be interchanged. A heavy-duty locking piece, including a pair of locking lugs that directly engage the lock core near its inner perimeter, allow the lock to withstand abusive forces applied through the lever handle. Endplay is nearly completely eliminated to provide a quality feel through the use of collars that connect the interchangeable inner and outer sides of the lock to the lock core.

    • A handle and lock which generally includes a base having an index pin, a stop positioned in a circular channel, and an aperture traversing the base. A shaft is rotatably engaged to the base. The shaft includes a nut-shaped platform and an arcuate positioning limiter disposed in the circular working channel. The nut shaped platform preferably includes a threaded bore to receive a fastener used to releasably attach a handle to the shaft. The handle generally includes a head portion having a nut shaped receiving area and an arcuate protruding positioning member for placement within the circular working channel. The nut shaped receiving area preferably covers the platform during rotation of the handle relative to the base. The head portion may also include a lock having a locking barrier connected to a locking cylinder. The locking barrier is also adapted for removable positioning within the circular working channel to prevent rotation between the rotational limiter and the stop thereby restricting rotation of the handle and shaft relative to the base. The shaft further includes a latch member designed to engage a latch receiver integral to a door frame used for latching of a door in a closed position.

    • An outer handle structure of a lock that may be idle includes an inner handle set provided with an inner handle for driving an inner drive shaft to rotate. The inner drive shaft drives a retractor to operate. The inner handle set is additionally provided with a press button that may be pressed to drive a safety bar to push a limit plate and a lock snap plate. A outer handle set is provided with an outer handle for driving an outer drive shaft to rotate. The outer drive shaft defines an annular slot and a straight slot arranged in a T-shape. A latch release set is provided with a retractor for drawing a lock tongue of a lock latch to operate, and has two ends respectively pivoted with the inner drive shaft of the inner handle set and the outer drive shaft of the outer handle set.
