    • PURPOSE: To provide a crank shedding motion capable of producing a difference in speed of vertical motion in front and rear of the maximum shedding positions of an upper and a lower heald frames without increasing a load applied to a prime mover of a loom and thereby producing woven fabric excellent in suitability of fabric, touch feeling, etc., in a loom using the crank shedding motion. CONSTITUTION: This crank shedding motion comprises a crank 1 rotating in synchronism with weaving operations, an interlocking lever 3 having one end installed connectedly through a connecting rod 2 to the crank 1 and a pair of lifting and lowering members 5 for driving heald frames installed connectedly to the other end of the interlocking lever 3. The crank shedding motion is capable of changing an included angle between the interlocking lever 3 and an interlocking link 4 due to the shaking of the interlocking lever 3 during one revolution of the crank 1 within 90 deg. and setting the length of the connecting rod 2 so as to provide a prescribed value to the dimensional relationship between the shaking speed of either of the lifting and lowering members 5 in front and rear of the first position where the connecting point 1/2 between the crank 1 and the connecting rod 2, the center of rotation (1.0) of the crank 1 and the connecting point 2/3 between the connecting rod 2 and the interlocking lever 3 lie on one straight line and the shaking speed of the other of the lifting and lowering members 5 in front and rear of the second position where the connecting point 1/2, the center of rotation (1.0) of the crank 1 and the connecting point 2/3 similarly lie on one straight line.

    • A modulator mechanism for a rotary dobby, the input side of the modulator mechanism being connected to a drive which rotates at an essentially constant angular velocity and the output side thereof providing an output which is applied to a main shaft controlling heald shafts and which is temporally modulated inch a way that a delay of the movements of the heald shafts their maximum displacement positions is caused. To permit a sufficiently large shed rest angle for aft insertion in the case of fabrics having a very large width, a substantially enlarged shed rest angle is provided by a rotatable cam body, which is connected to the drive, and by at least one cam body follower in the form of an articulated lever, which, when the cam body rotates, carries out an oscillating pivoting movement modulated in accordance with the cam shape of the cam body, the pivoting movement being transmitted to the main shaft.
