    • The invention relates to a method for adjusting a brake system of motor vehicles consisting of a speed-regulating unit. Said speed-regulating unit can be used to regulate a predetermined speed of a vehicle by automatically intervening in said brake system whereby the function of the speed-regulating unit of the vehicle is deactivated if the brake system of said speed-regulating unit is activated at the same time as the brake is applied by the driver. Whenever braking is required by speed-regulating unit and the action of the driver applying the brake, the pressure (Px) applied in the wheel brake is reduced according to a predetermined function; the resulting brake pressure (Pres) which, preferably is regulated in the wheel brake of the vehicle is determined by the formula: Pres= PF + PX1 (PF * PX1 / constant Z).
