摘要： A method and system for the creation and viewing of stereoscopic immersive images. By creating two immersive images from an offset camera platform (120), the illusion of depth can be provided by left and right views in the form of an interactive panoramic image. By capturing two immersive images on a fixture (110) with horizontal separation of the centers of each immersive image, each constructed from a sequence of fisheye images that are captured in a constant direction and seamed together, two files (294, 298) that can be used to produce a stereoscopic display are created. The resulting files can be displayed using any number of stereoscopic displays (440) including dual monitors, one for each eye, or shuttered displays for each eye from a single monitor, or displays with polarized filters directing separate views to each eye.

摘要： A method for generating additional views from a stereo image defined by a left eye image and a right eye image. The method includes receiving as input at least one stereo image. The method includes, for each of the stereo images, generating a plurality of additional images. The method includes interlacing the additional images for each of the stereo images to generate three dimensional (3D) content made up of multiple views of the scenes presented by each of the stereo images. The interlacing may be performed such that the generated 3D content is displayable on a 3D display device including a barrier grid or a lenticular lens array on the monitor screen. The additional images may include 12 to 40 or more frames providing views of the one or more scenes from differing viewing angles than provided by the left and right cameras used to generate the original stereo image.

摘要： An autosteroscopic multi-view display comprises a first image generator (807) which generates first images for views of a first group of contiguous views of the views of the display. A second image generator (809) generates second images for views of a second group of contiguous views and a third image generator (811) generates a third image for at least one view of a third group of contiguous views. The first images correspond to a right eye viewing angle and the second images correspond to a left eye viewing angle of a scene. The third image corresponds to a viewing angle between the right eye viewing angle and the left eye viewing angle. The use of a transitional group of views corresponding to intermediate viewing angles may substantially reduce cross talk and ghosting effects. It may in combination with viewer tracking provide a practical and high performance autostereoscopic multi-view display allowing increased depth levels.

摘要： A three-dimensional imaging system and related methods is provided that utilizes a composite transmissive LCD panel. The composite LCD panel contains at least two layers of stacked liquid crystal cells positioned on top of one another relative to the imaging direction, is utilized to display at least two calculated images superimposed over one another at different distances within the panel from the viewer. Each layer of liquid crystal cells create multiple pixels from the cells, which pixels collectively can be operated to form independent images on each liquid crystal layer. The composite LCD panel can be used to create a continuous 3-D image field in a large viewing area or in multiple viewing areas in conjunction with a suitable 3-D image generation system.

摘要： In a system and method for transmitting and displaying multiple different views of a scene, three or more simultaneous scene signals, representing multiple different views of a scene, are provided by an appropriate camera arrangement to a spatial multiplexer. The size and resolution of the scene signals are reduced as necessary to combine the multiple scene signals into two super-view signals. The super-view signals are encoded using compression based on redundancies between the two super-views and then transmitted. A decoder receives the transmitted data signal and extracts the two super-view signals according to the inverse of the encoding operation. A spatial demultiplexer recovers the individual scene signals from the decoded super-view signals in accordance with a defined multiplexed order and arrangement. The scene signals are then interpolated as needed to restore the original resolution and size and subsequently displayed.

A tracking system tracks the position of an observer and a control system controls the positions of the light sources so that the images of the light sources formed by the lenses or mirrors track the observer. The observer thus sees the 3D image while having an enlarged degree of freedom of movement.
