    • Method of preparing NC data for moving a working head (WHD) along a path (PT) which is a predetermined distance D away from a curved surface (CS). Coordinate values (x, y, z) representing the position of the center (QO) of rotation of the working head (WHD) are obtained at the time when the tip of the working head (WHD) is located at a point (PO) on the curved surface (CS). Further, unit components (i, j, k) of the vector (BR) of the central axis of the working head (WHD) are obtained at the time when the tip of the working head (WHD) is located at the point (PO). By the use of the positional coordinate values and the unit components of the central axis vector as well as the distance D between the curved surface (CS) and the tip of the working head (WHD) during an operation, which is given separately, positional control data (X, Y, Z) for moving the working head (WHD) along the path (PT) which is away from the curved surface (CS) by the distance D are obtained from the following formulae: X = x + i x D; Y = y + j x D, Z = z + k x D. By the use of the positional control data thus obtained, NC data for controlling the position of the working head is prepared.
