    • The invention allows the representation on a screen and at will, in colour, measurement values, whatever their amplitude may be. It allows also their memorization them. A voltage measure (Ux) is introduced in an adder amplifier (12) at the same time as a saw-tooth voltage (Us) which is synchronized by image or line pulses (fsynV respectively fsynH). Thus, when a threshold is stepped over, a signal (tx) proportional to the measurement signal (Ux) and to time is provided to be transformed into a video signal. The representation of the measured value (or measured values) on the monitor may be horizontal or vertical, while limit values, scales, writing signs, etc. may be reproduced.

    • A dynamic display system for discrete events of complex data that are carried by discrete electrical signals which indicate values in three coordinates as triads. A cathode ray tube display apparatus (16) (television monitor) with a plane surface (20) is actuated by format signals to exhibit a pictorial three-dimensional perspective field of reference somewhat in the figure of an elongate box (22) viewed in perspective. Specifically, as disclosed, the data events or elements are manifest in the form of lines (24) or linear symbols that indicate coordinate values by symbol height and position. The independent variable, time, is scaled from an origin line (40) in the field of reference to extend along the depth of perspective so that the linear symbols advance along the path of perspective to accomplish a dynamic display with the illusion of motion. The specific system herein displays EEG waves, effectively indicating the magnitude and frequency of individual brain waves with respect to time of occurence. Consequently, a marching display is provided revealing fresh information together with a recent history of events in chronological order and in a concise and readily perceivable form. Additionally, recorded data may be later played back affording examination of a past history of EEG. Furthermore, color is utilized in the display to add still another dimension. A conventional television format is employed in which the linear symbols (24) are formed along scanning lines of the television raster pattern.
