    • A system is provided for preventing the accumulation of snow or ice that may prevent the proper and safe functioning of a fuel burning device. The system includes at least one moisture sensor, a temperature sensor, at least one mat configured to generate heat upon receiving an electrical current, and the fuel burning device. A control module is connected to the at least one moisture sensor, the temperature sensor, power sources for the mat and the fuel burning device. The control module is configured to switch on and provide power to the at least one mat if moisture is detected and the temperature is at or below a predetermined threshold. In the event the at least one mat is not properly receiving current flow, the control module is able to power off the fuel burning device.

    • The present invention provides a system, method and apparatus for controlling a gas-fired heater connected to a fuel source via a fuel source valve that includes one or more power sources, a temperature sensor, a pilotless igniter disposed within the gas-fired heater, a flame sensor disposed within the gas-fired heater and a controller electrically connected to the one or more power sources, the temperature sensor, the pilotless igniter, the flame sensor and the fuel source valve. The controller turns the pilotless igniter on for a first time period and opens the fuel source valve whenever the temperature sensor indicates that a temperature is less than or equal to a low temperature setting. The controller also closes the fuel source valve whenever the temperature sensor indicates that the temperature is greater than or equal to a high temperature setting or the flame sensor indicates that a flame has gone out.

    • A clock thermostat apparatus adapted for controlling temperature conditioning apparatus maintains a normal control temperature in a space and during certain selected time periods deviating from the normal temperature control by resetting the normal temperature control to some lower temperature for comfort and energy conservation. The clock thermostat apparatus has a manual temperature selection means and a manual temperature deviation selection means for selecting the normal control temperature and the amount of reset or deviation during the selected time period. A connection means is provided between the temperature selecting means and the temperature deviation selection means to turn the temperature deviation selection means to a lower value when the temperature selection means is moved to some predetermined low temperature. When the normal control temperature selection is reduced by the temperature selection means, the temperature maintained is not reset to a low temperature during a setback time period which might be so low that freezing of water pipes would result in the space wherein the temperature is being controlled.

    • Disclosed is a method for preventing coagulation in an exhaust pipe of a boiler, in which a temperature of ambient air discharged through an exhaust pipe of the boiler is raised, thereby preventing coagulation of steam contained in exhaust gas, wherein, when an ambient air temperature is equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature, heating force of a burner is enhanced so as to raise a temperature of exhaust gas discharged through the exhaust pipe, thereby preventing coagulation of steam and creation of icicles at an end portion of the exhaust pipe. The method includes the steps of: proportionally controlling combustion based on a quantity of supplied fuel with respect to introduced air; determining whether to enhance heating power of a burner, based on a temperature of ambient air introduced into a blower sensed by an air temperature sensor; and enhancing the heating power of the burner to enhance a temperature of exhaust gas, when it is determined that the sensed temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature and may cause coagulation at an end portion of an exhaust pipe.
