    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse closed loop power controller which enables a mobile station of a mobile communication system using a CDMA system to actively control reverse closed loop power by taking account of radio wave environments of a forward-link and a reverse-link.
      SOLUTION: The controller includes: a demodulation and PCB extraction section 12 which receives a call frame transmitted from a base station, demodulates the received call frame, and extracts a PCB to which instruction information on increasing or decreasing transmission power is assigned; a CRC inspection section 13 which inspects CRC for the call frame transmitted from the base station; a control section 14 which outputs a control signal for increasing or decreasing transmission power based on the PCB extracted by the modulation and PCB extraction section and a result value of CRC inspected by the CRC inspection section; and a power adjustment section which increases transmission power of the mobile station to a maximum value of the transmission power or decreases transmission power of the mobile station to a minimum value of the transmission power, according to the control signal for increasing or decreasing transmission power output from the control section.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of transmitting and synchronizing data between MAC and physical communication protocol layers in a subscriber station of a wireless communication system.
      SOLUTION: Depending on the length of a MAC packet to be transmitted, the invention either fragments or concatenates the MAC packet when mapping to a physical layer. When a MAC packet is too long to fit in one TC/PHY packet, the MAC packet is fragmented and the resultant multiple TC/PHY packets are preferably transmitted back-to-back within the same TDD frame. When a MAC packet is shorter than a TC/PHY packet, the next MAC packet is concatenated with the current MAC packet into a single TC/PHY packet unless an exception applies (e.g., a change in CPE on the uplink or a change in modulation on downlink). When an exception applies, the next MAC packet is started on a new TC/PHY packet following either a CTG or MTG.

      SOLUTION: Data are transmitted and synchronized between a media access control (MAC) and a physical communication protocol layer in a subscriber station. When the MAC packets are too long, the MAC packets are dissected out and a plurality of TC/PHY packets is transmitted within the same TDD frame. When the MAC packets are short, the next MAC packets are linked together with the present MAC packets to be changed into a single TC/PHY packet. If an exception is applied, in the next MAC packets, CTG or MTG is started in the following new TC/PHY packets.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for maintaining a predefined transmission quality in a wireless Metropolitan Area network (MAN). SOLUTION: Routers connected to a plurality of LANs are interconnected to one or more transceivers via wireless links, respectively. Each router stores a table representative of the topology of the MAN and receives detected information representing the quality of the wireless links and network traffic loads. The router adapts the manner of transmission and the path of transmission according to the information. For example, a strength of a signal received over a wireless communication link is periodically monitored for maintaining the strength within a predefined range by adjusting the transmission power. An error rate for the data received over the link is also monitored. If the received signal strength remains below the predefined range despite the transmit power having been adjusted to the maximum allowable level and if the error rate approaches a predefined limit, one or more techniques are selectively employed to reduce the error rate while maintaining a sufficiently high network throughput.
