[Class 87 (ii)] A concrete-block making machine comprises a four-sided frame 1 slidably mounted on uprights 2 which are surmounted by a pallet or plate 8 which coacts with the frame 1 to form a mould box, the frame being connected by a link 4 to an operating hand lever 5, and one or more tampers 7 carried by a rod 14 guided in brackets 12, 13 on a standard 11 and connected by links 17 to an operating hand lever 16. The pallet 8 may be provided with a central division plate 9. The upward and downward movement of the frame 1 are limited respectively by the engagement of the link 4 with a stop 24 on the frame, and the engagement of the lever 5 with a stop 25 on one of the uprights 2. The tampers are raised to the elevated position, in which a collar 27 thereon bears on the underside of the bracket 12, by a spring 20 connected by a rod or link 21 to the base of the machine.
